The collectivist apologetics justifying this utter loss of privacy are so sickenly craven, I wanted to vomit after reading this.

I use the Public Folder on iDisk extensively to share some data files with friends so that they can sync with them.
I understand that I will lose this feature to share on a Public Folder if I switch to iCloud.
If that’s not true, could someone educate me on how to share a Public folder to sync with other computers using iCloud? Thx. I can’t find any info online.

I’m an Apple fan - but.... I can’t bring myself to allow this much of my data to be entirely in the hands of anyone. It’s bad enough that my ISP touches my email or that any number of websites/companies have bits and pieces of information related to me, but to allow nearly everything I have related to data in one space just seems too risky to me. Others thoughts?

I don’t think iCloud has any sort of iDisk functionality. I use Dropbox for that. Currently I only use iCloud to backup my iOS deices.

It is pretty straightforward and easy using DropBox.. though I am no expert.

The CRAWLING EYE!!! A classic! Scared the eyeballs out of us kids and I’ve been wanting to see it again. The end of the story was open, with the scientist fearing that the crawling eyes could adapt to the cold and come down the mountain to plague mankind. Really well done B movie.

You are right. Apple is becoming big brother, wants to be, err iBrother?
A bit more frightening to have Apple as a big iBrother than even google or Microsoft.

There's nothing to worry about. Nobody will ever hack into the cloud for your personal information, or explode EMPs over server farms or anything...

but to allow nearly everything I have related to data in one space just seems too risky to me. Others thoughts? Perhaps I'm and exception, but I don't believe I keep any information on my computer that I would consider private.
I follow Howie Carr's advice: never write when you can speak, never speak when you can nod, and never nod when you can wink.

If you think that Google hasn’t already accumulated all of that information on you, without your active participation or consent, then you’re kidding yourself.

I think Microsoft would cave in to govt pressure before Apple would. Just my thoughts. And if both Apple and MS caved, I feel safer having my data on my macs than on my PCs...

The collectivist apologetics justifying this utter loss of privacy are so sickenly craven, I wanted to vomit after reading this. I only have a Mac and a couple of iPods, tho I am serious about getting a iPad (and have been since the iPad2 came out). This article seems to indicate that iOS devices which have internet capability are the main reasons to use iCloud. I've been leery of the privacy implications, even tho I don't think there actually is any such thing as privacy with the devices we're using, anyway. The upshot is that I didn't accept the conditions of service when I began to initialize iCloud. It was a bit creepy to subsequently receive an email thanking me for signing up!
What does appeal to me is the $25 music feature, which seems to be related but somehow seperate. SM, can you clarify?

I just got it. If I'm at work, I can access all of my iTunes music library on my iPhone. I hope they'll offer the same thing for my video library soon.

In other words you have no written proof to support your statements or feelings.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 has it in their collection. That box set has 4 very bad movies in it. It is a great Christmas gift.
