If by "apartchiks" you mean voters, yes (and I know you don't). In 2008 McCain had pretty much won the nomination by the time it got to my state at the time, but it was with the voters in other states. It would not go over well to just declare August 31 that sorry, none of your votes mattered, we'll nominate Palin, West, etc. Heck, you'd have to be OK with a brokered convention nominating Huntsman or some other unfavorable candidate because of some deals with other candidates.

Same thing we did when they shoved Bob Dull down our throats?

Same thing we did when they shoved George W. Bush down or throats?

I'm all for a brokered convention. If you aren't, I don't care, and nobody else does either.
