I didn’t used to keep track of who I was arguing with on FR, but eventually I started noticing certain types haunt certain threads, and their only goal is to pounce on anyone who doesn’t agree with them. They usually have one area that they’re kind of obsessed with (education, abortion, atheism) and they run all over the thread with this swaggering, chest-thumping attitude. They usually have a very distinctive posting style too. You can tell it’s them by the format before you even look at the bottom of the post.

It is too bad that you’re so caught up in this that you choose to take the side of someone who thinks that a woman having sex with a minor is ok.

You are right about that. We all have a “posting style” that becomes almost like a signature and after awhile you can recognize a lot of posters almost as if you were hearing their distinctive “voice”.
As far as the trolls go, it drives them nuts to ignore them but once I recognize one that is exactly what I do.

As far as the actual topic of the thread, I hope the legal system weighs everything carefully. You're right when you say these numbers are arbitrary. If she'd been 17, it wouldn't be a crime, but presumably if she was 18, suddenly she's an adult and it's "rape." (Insulting to compare this to a violent assault, but some people enjoy using such words.)

What would the real personality be of a person who when offered reasonable debate devolves into personal insults which have to removed by the Admin?

It is a shame about the law, though. A 23 year old aunt should be as free to rape her underage nephew as a 17 year old aunt. That is your point, correct?

That is another reason why I am so strongly opposed to so many of these situations being referred to as “rape”. It is demeaning to those who have really been victims of rape which is truly a horrible crime.
The boy in this case is old enough to know better. He was just as wrong as she was and yet he gets “victim” status and she gets a sex offender record. They were BOTH behaving badly. There was no victim here that I can see.
If a 15 year old convinces an adult to rob a bank...who is legally the (more) responsible party?
The kid is a bank robber only a few years removed from playing with GI Joes.
The adult is a weak minded fool who let a child manipulate him.
It doesn’t make the kid any less guilty...but it certainly makes the adult the worse of the two parties.
Yes. If you’ve ever seen a thread where a 15 year old boy has raped a 9 year old girl, you’ll suddenly see an about-face in terms of Freeper’s perception of his adulthood. Suddenly, 15 is old enough for hanging.
15 is old enough for hanging. Always has been. See, the older, presumably more mature person bears the majority of the responsibility. It even works in made up scenarios.
Here’s the real question though.
Would we see an about-face in terms of your defense of child rape if it was a 15 year old girl and a 9 year old boy?
Judging from the responses of the Nak mutual admiration society, I’d have to say yes.

Actually, I would agree to the point short of hanging. But that would be consistent with my asserting that 15 year old is old enough to be responsible for his behavior, now wouldn’t it?
