SAINT-TROPEZ, France -- French actress turned animal rights campaigner Brigitte Bardot on Friday urged New Jersey governor Chris Christie to halt what she called the "scandalous carnage" of the state's annual bear hunt.

New Jersey wildlife officials say the six-day cull is needed to control a growing population of black bears. With two days of hunting to go, 369 black bears have been killed, the Division of Fish and Wildlife said on its website.

Last year, 592 bears were killed -- what hunters call "harvested."

Bardot, not Bordeaux, lol!

In my neighborhood in NJ, the deers are overrunning the joint. And now we have licensed hunters running around the streets with bows and arrows, scaring women and small children. This is one nutty state.

So long as that carnage is broiled with carrots, celery and onions I’m okay with it.....

I don't care what the government wants. Bears are nuisance here and like rats and mice they need to be dispatched.

I have spent a good amount of my life in the woods, and I have only seen a bear twice. Harvest is the right term. It is not easy, there is a lot of luck as well as hunting skills involved. Animals don’t just show up saying “shoot me”. By the way, the times I saw bear it was not bear season, and the bears walked on by.

I agree the pictures they post is irrelevant.

But I’d say that conservatives are not the same as liberals.

Liberals never, ever give credit even when a conservative does something they like. The treatment they gave Bush for 8 years — though in many regards he grew the government in size and funding more than Slick Willy did, ought to be enough evidence of that truth.

They never attack their own.
They never compliment an opponent.

We cannibalize our own at the drop of a hat to show that we hold the morality of an issue above the individual or the party.
We fall all over ourselves complimenting an opponent that says something we agree with.

In that regard, conservatives are very different than liberals.

As I said, she is a hero if she says something a conservative agrees with. She is the opponent if she takes the side we disagree with.

1. It’s “Bordeaux” when she is acting “whiney.” Ok. Forgive my awful pun.

2. NJ let the deer population get way out of control because they didn’t want the animal nuts protesting them.

3. Now they let hunters in neighborhoods? Crazy. They need to hunt them in the wilderness areas. Once those areas are cleared of the population, those that are living in the people-populated areas will move out to the wilderness. That part will take a couple of years, but it will happen.

That's the verb used exclusively by my county newspaper in Pennsylvania

Since you're not aware, that is the new PC term for hunting, supported by Ted Nugent and the rest of the hunting community. It is now being used exclusively to counter the claims by the libs that hunting animals in indiscriminate "KILLING"..........

Thugs kill, hunters harvest..........

I agree, it does sound weird and hard to get used to but at least we're finally learning how to use the left's game of semantics to our advantage......

And notice that the press still had to make the distinction between the two:

Last year, 592 bears were killed -- what hunters call "harvested."
