Yeah, how dare a divorced candidate ever consider running for President?

Bad analogy.

Reagan's first wife divorced him, and not for infidelity, in fact, Reagan was crushed.

Newt, on the other hand, liked to chase skirts and the divorces were his fault.

Come on, divorce is divorce, and the real issue is every time an election cycle rolls around, we go nuts, use our ideals to turn on one another, and we devour our own.

I want a President whose loyalty to my country, democracy, and my goodwill I don’t have to question. As a statesman, has he or she demonstrated those qualities?

Spare me the piety about who he or she is in marriage reflects how he/she will lead my country. I had high opinions of Kennedy and Clinton too, and Carter was a moron. I don’t care. Will this person be a leader?

So why did Reagan’s first wife divorce him?

I’ll start worrying about Newt’s marital situation as soon as we start announcing the results of our elections with puffs of white smoke - until then, It’s not relevant !
