Just finished reading the Hobbit (for the umpteenth time), can’t wait for the movie version. Hope it holds to the book better then the trilogy of the Rings did.

By the way, the animated version wasn’t bad.

I just watched those movies about 2 months ago. I coulda swore frodo died in the end in the book. Am I remembering the book correctly?

The trilogy held very close to the book.

Yes, there were some scenes cut like Tom Bombadil, but most of those scenes would have been either unnecessary or just plain confusing to the non-LOTR fan.

Are you kidding? Didn't you see the extended version? The only things missing were Tom Bombadil, the barrow downs, Quickbeam, Ghan-Buri-Ghan.
