Anyone else spending Christmas Eve alone? (vanity)

Merry Christmas everyone! My sincere hope is that all of you, each and every one, will have a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Just wondering if any others out there are spending this sacred night solo.

Besides my trusty Boxer, Django the Wonderdog, and a new edition to the household, a gorgeous long-haired black cat I have dubbed Jackson, I have the house to myself all evening and night.

Tomorrow, it will be family wall-to-wall at mom's house, complete with gifts and an excellent multi-calorie dinner. But, tonight, I'll enjoy a quiet supper and a nice cappuccino, watching "The Muppet Christmas Carol," and maybe "A Christmas Story." Probably turn in early.

Anyone else in Freeperland alone tonight? Just curious.

I will see the kids tomorrow. Even though my friends and their kids are upstairs, I feel as tho I am the last person on Earth. First time since they were born I haven't been with the kids on Christmas Eve.

Boy, do I remember those feelings! Just get through it somehow. It takes a while but it does get better. Just try to do positive things and don't give in to self-pity. Things always look better in daylight.

It's just the 2 of us here tonight. We celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary on Dec. 20, and we have spent all 54 Christmas together. We have been truly blessed and we know it and are thankful to God for all the blessings he has given us. We will be with my brother tomorrow and our own children and grandchildren next week for Christmas #2.

Merry Christmas to all of you dear people and I pray for the best for all of you and our country in 2012.

I am blessed to be here with my better half, who desperately needs rest—works too hard!

But, as you can see, I’m Freeping and wishing every wonderful Freeper a very blessed Christmas and the happiest of new years.
Freepers are the best there is. God love you all.

I have my family with me tonight but I just wanted to let fellow freepers know what a blessing they are to lurkers like my mom. She has been gone for 2 yrs but she spent almost all day and night with you as her friends after my dad passed away and she suffered through 10 yrs of cancer. She found great comfort in knowing that all she needed to do was click the FP link and there would be a group of people who loved this country and shared the same ideals She never posted but on our daily calls she filled me in with all the posts that I may have missed. Her computer was always on Free Republic and this site was her only “favorite”(I bookmarked it for her LOL!). I just wanted to let you guys know that I truly believe that she lived years longer because of this site and I hope that you know that your posts are giving people strength. God Bless and Merry Christmas.

To ALL

Been there and it is lonely. I can only say that things get better and someday you will find yourself with too many choices! Just remember: as long as you are a Freeper, you are NOT alone......as you can tell by now!
Keep the Christmas Spirit....anything wrong done to you, Forgive....this is the Night for it. Let go...remember Linus in Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special and his speech:
“LIGHTS PLEASE:
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them,

Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men”

I keep a festive state. My fireplace is raging and my thoughts on helping are never ending. I appreciate the good I have worked hard for and look forward to sharing it again tomorrow.

MERRY CHRISTMAS CAWW!

It's amazing the difference it makes. I mean, there is nothing I want. My parents, friends, and sister also have enough money to buy whatever they want for themselves. I think everyone would be much happier if Christmas were more like Thanksgiving. Food, drink, hanging out... gifts for small children, yes, but the rest of us? I mean, must we? It's so stressful, too, trying to figure out what to get people. And you never really, really know if they like it. I got a friend this cut crystal vase one year... a few years later we had a joint yardsale, and guess what was one of the thing she was selling?? (I know she didn't remember I gave it to her, she wouldn't deliberately hurt someone's feelings.) And I think of the things I've gotten over the years that I just had to hide in the closet for a year or two before sneaking off to Goodwill with it... it's all just so unnecessary.

Once I put a stop to it, my Christmas stress vanished. I just admire the pretty lights, drink my coffee with the Irish Cream in it, and go about my business.

Merry Christmas FReepers!

Waiting for the cheesecake to cook and going to a midnight service with family and friends. Should be a wonderful evening. Reminiscing about those who won't be coming home for the Holidays.

Wishing you and yours the best for Christmas and the New Year! God Bless our military far from home.

Merry Christmas! I don't have much family left, talked to my niece on the phone told her an old family story about her grandfather in WW11 and how a chance meeting on a beach during a battle, led to him and my mother meeting years later. She is too old for gifts so I gave her a real good true story. I have the wife, dogs and my son still living so I am not all alone.
