Another argument to have, & one we should be having is: What is INSURANCE for? Insurance is for catastrophic events. We don’t buy car insurance & use it for oil changes or routine maintenance. Health insurance should be the same - it should be purchased for a catastrophic event that would require hospitalization or surgery. Routine check-ups & incidental medicines (including birth control) should be paid out of pocket.

We should be telling our congressman to allow us Medical Savings Accounts out of which we can pay for things like mammograms & colonoscopies & birth control. And then insurance would kick in for the big stuff.
