Give them.... coffee.
Here in Texas we always tried to warn the rest of the world about you sheep men, er boys, er, whatever you want to call yourselves.
Take yourself a vacation to Broke-back Mountain and chill out.
Look...I lived in a military community where we weren't allowed the priviledge of shooting our own sick animals and burying them in our (military housing) backyards.
My wife and I stayed with our extemely sick and suffering pet while he was put to death.
We didn't have the option of hanging with IMR 4350 and his code pink friends who smoked dope and tried to smear red paint on Condi Rice.
IMR 4350. Go annoy someone else. Stop molesting sheep. Take that Gerbil out of your butt.
You really have no life. Move out of your Mom’s basement.
Are you serious about the coffee?
It doesn't work on Gerbils. Maybe you should switch to Guinea pigs.
Coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grate Idea! :)
Me too. I probably never will.
Sheesh, I'm REALLY regretting supporting someone...earlier...upthread...
Wait. I didn't live in a MILITARY community...but, well, you know. I'm leaving the thread now. Adieu to you! :)
Nope.
I’d use the $1800 for a retainer for a lawyer to sue them bloody.
Really? The vet led her to believe, if the story is correct, that the dog couldn't be saved except for extremely expensive measures and probably wouldn't survive then. I think this doc was in the business of getting owners to sign over the rights to their pets and then selling them to others. I would sue this doc for misleading me on the condition of my dog and failing to explain what I was signing, he**, she even paid money for a cremation that didn't take place.
Something’s not right with this story. I suspect the vet knew the precarious situation that this dog was in and didn’t want it put back into that situation, to be potentially mauled again by larger dogs in the same household.
But, I really, really dislike the means he or she chose to do it, by lying apparently. Charging for euthanization and cremation that did not occur is actionable and clearly evident.
The woman’s anger should be tempered quite a bit through joy that the dog did not die, despite the other seeming ugliness, but I don’t really get a sense that this is the case.
So, I just don’t know what to think here.
That’s sick and evil.
:(
In a hearbeat, and you know it!
And, I’d be at that Vet office with an Attorney first thing in the morning, AND I’d be making a complaint to the Vet Association. I’d have his license on my wall, or on the floor for my dog to do his business on.
I’ve only had to euthanize one dog.
I was there while he passed and then -he went home- with me.
He’s buried in the back yard with the others.
I may fear losing my dogs to death *but* I fear not knowing what really happened to them much more.
They go into the vet with me and they come back out, one way or another.
I see no validation in any of the ‘arguments against her’ presented here.
She was told the dog had a slim chance of surviving over-priced surgery and offered euthanasia, instead.
I don’t know if anybody’s noticed yet or not, but the economy is -tanked- and pets are often the first casualties when families are already struggling to survive.
Even if the injuries were sustained from the dog’s own ‘pack mates’ [it happens to the best of owners..dogs ~are~ dogs after all] the vet is still a sneaking bastard who should pay for his crime.
There are a *lot* of “rescue groups” who are now fronts for dog reselling.
They “rescue” popular, expensive breeds from real shelters and make big bucks off their exorbitant ‘adoption fees’.
[”Gentle Giants” being the most infamous of them all]
People can flame me all they want but if somebody pulled this stunt on me, I’d be seeing blood.
21, LOL....
Fullchroma, it’s illegal in Houston.

It is getting increasingly difficult to find good -competent- vets who actually care about the animals.
Since their patients can’t complain and the owners don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning a judgement against them, far too many of them pretty much consider themselves infallible gods.
[and woe unto you if you’re a knowledgeable pet owner who questions their flash-judgement “I’ve got another appointment in 5 minutes” diagnoses]
I’m banned from a local clinic because I took a dog into the e-vet with a _neck injury_ and instead of letting me lead the dog to the x-ray room, two bimbos took the thin braided lead off his harness [he was *not* wearing a collar on purpose so as to prevent anybody but injuring him further] and they DRAGGED an 80 pound, terrified pup down 20 feet of hallway, _sideways_.
They severely damaged his Atlas joint doing this and for *daring* to complain, *I* was banned.
[they also put him on a near-lethal dose of antibiotic that a simple test would’ve determined he *never needed*]
The woman vet who owned clinic the E-vet worked out of on weekends sent me all my dogs “records” [_not a single one_ of which was ~remotely~ correct...not one illness, injury or inoculation matched ~any~ dog’s name] and the nastiest, most libelous, lying letter I’ve ever seen a professional write.
She also told the e-vet [who was really a great vet] lies and said I called her ‘an idiot’.
So now, because of her lies and defamation, I have *no* emergency vet for my animals.
[the e-vet said “he was all about the animals”...except mine, apparently but did sarcastically tell me I “could bring them in if they were DYING.”...verbatim]
Now I have to spend $80 periodically to have his Atlas joint adjusted by an excellent animal chiro.
This same clinic, several years ago, due to their general ineptitude and stinginess, failed to install smoke detectors in their facility.
Dozens of dogs and cats who were either in the hospital or the adjacent “boarding kennel” died, horrible slow deaths, unable to escape their cages.
For that, the clinic offered the grieving owners “sincere apologies”, took the insurance money and really “upgraded” the place.
We have two really wonderful vets who see my animals locally and another clinic across the PA state line that are wonderful.
90% of the other vets in the area are the stuff of horror stories.
I am SO glad and proud of you for sticking up for Buddy!
I’m starting to think Jack “I loves them mercy killings” Kevorkian still lives.
Stick with a lawyer and civil suit.
Having the Vet Association involved is like having an “internal investigation” done to some cop who’d beat the snot out of you for jaywalking.
Short of charges for murdering a pet owner in front of 20 witnesses, they’ll protect their own, believe me.
