Churchill was out of favor until a threat was imminent and the nation craved and experienced statesman-warrior.

Side issues fall like flies, then...

In the general, discussion of couch sitting with pelosi and scazafava have zero impact. That is a primary issue. We would see bad photos of a fat Gingrich and constant reminders of his affairs. If he rises back up, he could get beyond some of those issues.

His negatives are the highest of any candidates, and when the Dems start playing clips of him on the couch with Nancy Pelosi, and reminding America of his multi-million dollar Fannie-Mae influence peddeling scheme, as well as his co-endorsement with ACORN of a radical liberal in NY-23, he doesn’t have a chance.

The conservative will always have the highest negatives, and you think the Dems will run those ads? How does that help them?

The ads the dems want to run are the ones of Santorum driving away Catholic voters and women.

"The only one who can beat Obama is the anti-Obama...not the next closest thing. "

This is an important and insightful axiom.

Many folks on this forum fail to recognize how formidable a candidate Obama is/will be. Especially with every conceivable media and popular culture outlet soundly in his corner.

Remember the sh!tbombs Romney landed on Newt between SC and FLA? Magnify that 100x and then imagine it going on for 90 consecutive days.

Plus that commie charlatan is well liked by those who receive a green US Treasury check...and every state/local municipal employee. Unions. All those teachers, janitors and bus drivers. All those businesses who derive the bulk of their revenue from the government...or are the beneficiary of favorable tax breaks and non-regulation.

And women. He'll likely win 60% and 70% of the subgroup of single women.

Hispanic vote. Black vote. Catholic vote. Jewish vote. Asian vote.

Obama walks in the door with at least 48% of the general electorate. Locked in.

People! Please don't think this is going to be easy. Don't think that because a 5th grader can figure out who the best choice is...that they'll actually choose that way when the choice is "What's good for me vs What's good for the nation".

While it's entirely possible we have Crossed the Rubicon and all hope is already lost, we must fight to our last breath, lest we be known to our enslaved posterity as the toilette scum we would otherwise be.

Our only hope is Newton Leroy Gingrich. The anti-Obama.

I haven’t clicked on Drudge since he trashed Newt weeks ago. Will not go back until Newt is the nominee.

"OH YEAH, THERE’S NO AGENDA HERE /sarc"

Drudge is dumb enough to think this is helping the cause of Romeny, and ultimately the cause of Obama.

But he's wrong.

He's accidentally on the leading edge of the 3rd rise of Gingrich.

When he wakes up he'll go back to his own self.

“I pray he makes it all the way to the goal.”

I do to. As I said in the other thread Sheldon and I both donated to the Newt Campaign and between us the amount was over $5 million. GO NEWT GO!

>>Obama would make mincemeat out of Santorum.<<

Exactly. Which is why he is being pushed to the top.

I’m still amazed there is anyone left who actually believes our votes count.

Obama would make mincemeat out of Santorum. Swing voters will not vote for him. They may not be wild about Newt either, but wnen crunch time comes, I firmly believe they will at least take a chance on him over 4 more years of Obama. Go Newt!!

True, Gingrich can do something that Santorum and Romney cannot do, show America a real leader and a true brilliant mind, and an authentic deep thinker, and a deservedly historical conservative, contrasted to a fairly mediocre person, a person of his times and of his shallow life.

When Gingrich gets 500 million dollars behind him, then his aura as a man already significant in history, and who is now a man of destiny, can be put forward to the public, which will be needed against a sitting President.

I can understand why Newt’s supporters are pleased by this.

But why would DRUDGE, who is completely in the tank for Mitt Romney, post something like this?

Obviously because Newt was down near the bottom in these last two primaries, and because he’s still worried about Rick Santorum, who basically tied Romney in Michigan. Newt didn’t get any delegates, but Romney and Santorum probably got 15 each.

This has nothing to do with whether Newt is a better candidate than Rick. Drudge obviously still sees Rick as the major threat to a Romney win. If Drudge and Ann and the other Romney supporters manage to sink Rick, then they’ll go back to bashing Newt again. But that’s not what we’re seeing here. It hasn’t happened yet.

As for this Santorum can’t beat Obama crap, back it up with numbers instead of emotion. Where is Santorum not going to be able to win that Newt can? That place doesn’t exist on the US Map or in any of the 57 states and you know it. Of the Battlegrounds (NH, PA, MI, WI, IA, CO, NM, NV) who has had the better showing in those primaries and caucuses?

Romney did’nt carpet bomb Santorum, he went after Newt and so did the media. It’s got nothing to do with emotions, thems the facts!!

Newt most certainly has an opportunity to rise and I hope he kicks little ricky’s ass!

Hey now, I’ve got some issues with her. If you had told me in September how the primary season was going to unfold up to February, I don’t think a more perfect scenario for Palin to get in could have been drawn up. I still don’t buy the whole reason for staying out. Some people say she was getting to many threats and trying to protect her family, yet has that stopped her from trying to bump heads with the establishment and hold some sway in the outcomes?

Also, I would have REALLY liked to see Sarah on stage debating Newt. All these Newtbots now promoting Newt, I wonder how strongly their support would have still been with Sarah in the race. Would Newt still be considered the world’s most brilliant elder statesman or would he go back to being reviled as the grumpy old RINO who sat on the couch with neurotic Nancy? My guess is the latter.

I mean come on, for all the supposed intelligence that Newt has, who would win a one on one debate on conservatism between he and Palin? I think the answer is pretty obvious.

Yea, right!

A man who cheated on two wives, becomes the nominee and asked by the media if he supports the party platform on “family values” and then is asked why he cheated?

Gross hypocrisy!

Game, set and match for Obama.

I think it's comical to believe the dims would run such ads. It undermines many of the BS arguments on their weakest flanks.

Oh, and I think it was Freddie, not Fannie.

Newt has a long and successful history as a campaigner. I’ve found articles from the 90s and late 80s with Newt just going toe to toe with even the leaders of his own party fighting tax cuts, pushing welfare reform, making “controversial” statements. He’s fearless and a NATURAL LEADER. And leaders are something we haven’t had for a long time.

Mittens and Santorum don’t have that kind of talent or even any hint of it in their records. In 1994 I believe, Romney was running on a “I’m not Ronald Reagan” ticket. Santorum was running on a “I sat with Barbara boxer writing legislation for “Open Space.” I’m working with Hillary on legislation against violent video games” platform in 2006.

Newt Gingrich was running on a platform that consisted of blaming the welfare state as contributing to the collapse of society.

Obama is both deadly smart and energetic.

He understands the new political equation: It's all about the cultural meme.

Only nuclear weapons (intellectual acuity and insight) can compete.

Newt can win the argument both with those who think, and those who will just vote for those who they think won the argument by their observation of body language and verbal rhythm.

I know, it's silly.

With Newt Gingrich, the commuists are going to need something substantial beyond the character attacks. Obummer is a far weaker candidate than most people realize. He is an incompetent who won last election by saying nothing for long periods of time. His speeches were MEANINGLESS, and focused on hope and change and blah blah blah.

Do you really think a master of the English language like Newt is going to be unable to tear this empty suit apart? McCain lost because he refused to fight. Obama just sailed on the whole “first black President” thing. McCain was a weakling and simply didn’t have anything to offer that could top Obama’s “platform”, just like Romney was when he lost to Ted Kennedy.
