A tour of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer's haunts was carried out Saturday afternoon despite strong protests from the families of his victims.
Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys from the late 1970's through 1991, and the walking tour visits spots where he met and stalked his victims.
Word about the tour got out this week on the "Groupon" web site, which offered tickets at a discounted price of two for $25.00.
But those who protested the tours said they shouldn't be given at all regardless of price.
Groupon has canceled the promotion on its site, but sponsors of the tour said they will continue to give offer it.
I used to do roving maintenance in the projects there, I have wondered if Dahmer’s building was one of mine.
Dahmer lived in a privately-owned buiding. He lived in the hood, but not in any project.
This tour focused on the gay bars where he found his victims.
Back when he was playing Hannibal Lechter, Anthony Perkins came to Milwaukee and spent some time learning about Dahmer’s haunts.
Make that Anthony Hopkins.
Anthony Perkins played a different killer based on a Wisconsin Psycho.
sorry, when I said projects I really just meant apartments in the “Hood”, being a Texan, I have never really been clear what the projects were and just came to think of them as ghetto apartments.
My work was always for a private property management company.
I’m not surprised, honestly. One can never overestimate the morbid curiosity of the public. I think what the “tour guides” are doing here is sick, and disrespectful to the friends and families of the victims. I’m sure there will be more than a few takers of the service, though.
A buddy of mine was going to Marquette at the time, and lived ~8 blocks from Dahmer on the same E-W street. He says that area was a *really* bad hood at the time, that there was so much crime it helped keep what Dahmer was doing under the radar. The friend was mugged like 6 times during his stay at Marquette, including one pistol whipping.
He said when the whole Dahmer thing broke, he and his friends recognized the guy just from being out and about in the neighborhood. That would be more than a little creepy.
I wouldn’t want to do it. I could see myself taking a Jack the Ripper tour though...if they offer such a thing. I’m sure they probably do. Maybe there has to be enough time in between for it to not be so morbid.
Yep, here’s one:

I hear the tour stops for finger food along the way.
Oh man you just couldn’t help yourself could you.....what’s eating you!
Is that like a progressive dinner?
Stop! I am having trouble digesting this.
Please nobody ask....”what’s eating you”?
