“Apparently, “Census Workers” was not the correct response.”

LOL!

First, unless I am mistaken, the Census only requires the number of people at a given household.
As for Miranda Rights, “Can and Will” not “Can and may be considered” or “What you say can and will be used in your defense”.
Will be used against you. Innocent or not.

Lady, I am still smiling at your response! I think I'll just sit on it. If they come a-knockin' they can deal with my three dogs.

I appreciate everyone's response. I don't like to be bullied into doing something I don'tto, which is what they attempted to do. Screw 'em.

From their website: **Using the ACS 5-year estimates you can analyze small areas (with a population less than 20,000) such as Block Groups and Tracts. The problem is that it took 5 years of surveying 2 million people a year to accumulate a large enough sample to provide estimates with accuracy similar to the decennial census. This data file will include data collected starting in January five years prior to the survey year and running for 5 years through December of the survey year (using 2010 as the example January 2006 December 2010). The data does not show information for individual years but rather only a single number for the average of the area for the 5 years.**

I got one after the last census. I round filed it. Have not heard from them since. There is no legal "law" requiring you to fill it out.

Census, yes. To an extent. Community Survey? Pound sand...

I received one and never mailed it because the questions were too intrusive. I called and talked with two of their personnel on the phone. They were extremely courteous and told me I did not have to answer any questions I was not comfortable with.

They seem to be allied with the *Urban Institute* in Wash DC...

The only people on the BofD I recognize are Judy Woodruff, Vernon Jordan, and Warren Buffet.

You can refuse individual questions if you are uncomfortable with them. That way you completed the survey for the most part, but if something is too personal, refuse that question.

No, the unemployment is a different survey. It’s Current Population Survey that gathers employment data.

I got one and called them to tell them I would not be returning it. The woman on the phone said “but that’s how we know where to build roads”. I told her that we have city councils and a state government for that. Then she asked me for the tracking number on the back. I said “lady, you’re dealing with a Rush Limbaugh fan” and hung up. Good thing I was on an untraceable extension at work.

The consensus on this is that they will let you alone after 6 weeks if you can hold out.

They will call and visit but if you can not answer your door or the phone you don't have to talk to them.

They used to threaten a fine but in all these years they never followed thru with that.

We got it a couple years ago, refused to answer and they finally left us alone.

I will not fill it out. I don’t trust any government entity with any of my information. Especially as of lately. They said they would call me to fill it out and have not. And even if they do you have a right to not answer any specifics if you choose not to.
