Chile was a banana republic when Allende refused to step down and they managed just fine under the rule of law. But if the US is more bananas than they were ...

Interesting.

We certainly can’t depend on the federal government to be self-correcting anymore...

People need to choose freedom, personal responsibility, and local control. Unfortunately, these are extremely unpleasant choices for most everyone.

Freedom means that some folks will make immoral choices. Will you let them?
Personal responsibility means some people will be truly poor and suffering -- maybe even you or people you love. Will you accept grinding poverty as a part of American society?
Local control means that if you have a tornado, flood, or earthquake, federal help may not be available. You're on your own. Can you handle that?

Our whole society has become based on the notion that -- to the best of our ability -- nothing bad will ever happen to anyone, anywhere. We cannot have a successful return to limited government until people throw that entire concept out the window. The little utopia we've tried to build has become a nightmare. Bad things are going to happen. Unless we accept the inevitability of those bad things, we have no hope of ever making anything better.

The simple solution is for Congress (already convened) to simply call up the Militia (which is everybody) and recognize the authority of the NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT. The Secret Service then takes Obama into custody (if he's lucky).

Much easier than all that BS.

Obama doesn't have the military in his pocket I firmly believe the military would not obey unlawful orders from and POTUS at any time.

That being said, FDR got closest to martial law and moved a whole class of people to involuntary confinement (Nisei) with the consent and assistance of the military.

Actually, once the new president is sworn in, Obama's 'orders' have as much effect as yours or mine.

He'd tell someone to do something and they'd laugh.

If he tries it he will be running for his life from the very military he commands because they loathe him and have reasonable proof that he is ineligible for the office he holds.

Very interesting- I pray we don’t need it, but we need to have a lawful solution with plenty of teeth.

I do hope that the concept of Co-equal Branches of Government and Separation of Powers haven’t completely deserted the other two branches. May I suggest the 25th Amendment on the grounds of instability as a good back-pocket solution.

But we can never forget that our power lies in the states.

What if the Chinese Navy lands in Anchorage and millions of chinamen march south toward Seattle and they take over the cable TV companies and force us to watch reruns of MASH to convince us that it is just a movie set?

i guess the ansah you lookin for is thank GOd the federal courts are not completely taken over by lefties.

But what if ROMNEY wins the election? ... then our problems will really have begun. FOR REAL DUDES.

WHAT IF...on January 22, 2013, Barack Hussein Obama continues to hold the seat of power that is assigned under our Constitution as the office of the President and refuses to leave while declaring complete and total control over the entire CONUS and a complete disbandment of the other two branches of government?

Well, on this one point, you'd be two days late, since, if there is a POTUS-Elect, he'd be sworn in on 01/20/13.

a President elected by the citizens under the Constitution

The citizens do not elect the President under the Constitution, the Electors do. The people vote for the electors, although that's not required by the Constitution, it's just how all the states do it now, although they did not always do it that way.

In some states the electors are by law required to vote for whomever they are pledged to, but in others they are free to vote for whom they choose. No faithless elector has ever been punished, and only once have they changed the results, and that was only for VP, in 1836. Even then they merely threw the election into the Senate which picked the "expected" winner anyway, so even they did not change the final result.

I don’t think what any one individual governor said or did would matter a hill of beans under a ‘what if’
aren’t there already in place some 5 (or 6?) “regional governors” under some sort of Fema or whatever program? Zero would call on the Regionals in a martial law type scenario and fire all the state governors forthwith, i would imagine...just guessing of course.

Once that SOB is gone the people should put a statue right in the middle of the Washington Mall of him bowing before some rag head King.

Good for you. This is what I have been saying all along. If Barry tries to take over the states will step up and put a stop to it. We are not going to have a revolution of millions of americans dying in the streets. That is not how it will go down. That being said I think he will try it anyway. So its best to get prepared.
