Yes, I'm logged in.
Something happened to my computer when I went to some site where I was supposed to be able to view sports events from around the world. Afterward I ran Malwarebytes and Spybot and I think they each got rid of something. I've cleared my cache.
But I'm still having incredible difficulty with FR. This has been going on for more than a week. Google and my email site always come up as does most everything else I go to. When I've tried other computers I never have a problem (except when FR is really down). This is a Windows 7 computer with IE-9. Suggestions to get an Apple Computer or to use Firefox or Chrome will not be appreciated, but other ideas will.

Nope. Haven't had any Norton stuff (for more than a half hour anyway with a new computer) since the Norton Utilities for DOS. They were pretty useful. But thanks for trying to come up with something that I might have wrong on my computer here.

the internet is great, but I too get sooo frustrated when I have a hard time naivgating even the most seemingly simple things, and then out of nowhere I get jammed up.
I am sorry if I offended you. Things are getting tense all over this country, and the stress sometimes gets to me. That’s an explanation, not an excuse, for me popping off sometimes on Freeper.

It involved making the "ReceiveTimeout" setting for Internet Explorer larger. I couldn't find this by searching the IE Help, but there is a registry setting for it. The registry key is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings\ReceiveTimeout
On my machine and configuration, at least, it had a default setting of 10 seconds. (The value itself is specified in milliseconds so it was 0x2710 = 10,000.) I changed it to 30 seconds and now FR almost always comes up, albeit after 25 seconds or so but at least it comes up.
(I do not regularly have this problem with other websites.)
