How do you feel ?

Posted on 04/10/2012 11:57:24 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

I predicted YEARS ago that if we did not unite behind a strong conservative...Mitt would be the nominee. I supported Sarah Palin. Yet, everytime I tried to promote her as a candidate and her values I ran into strong anti Palin sentiment from a loud minority on this web-site. I didn't settle for bumper sticker comments, so in some cases I decided to FReep mail some of these people. The question was... "Why do you dislike Palin ?"... and the answer was always something like "Well my sister and my friends think shes a dork"...

Why in the hell didn't you get in their faces and correct them ? Why in the hell did you enable Mitt Romney to become the nominee ?

Yes, Palin decided not to run. But people on ourside made it impossible for conservatives like her to have any say over the direction of the party and who the nominee would be after that. You gave the MSM control over the agenda. YOU DID !

garbage in.. garbage out...

especially so called "conservative women" who seem to swat down as many female conservatives as they can. I won't even try to understand that because it is soo irrational.

Thanks, Mitt. Nice post.

My post had nothing to do with Willard.

I'm sorry if you can't accept the fact that this delusion some people have that Sarah Palin is going to be on the ticket is utterly and completely ridiculous.

>>...You gave the MSM control over the agenda....<<

It occurs to me that despite the record high disatisfaction the public has with congress and the presidency, the majority of voters (yes, even some “conservatives”) confuse the MSM’s propaganda/bias/spin for “critical thinking”. Those voters (election after election) line up and vote just like the MSM and the pundits tell them to vote. Look at the majority support Romney is enjoying as an example.

Anyone with two brain-cells to rub together can not possibly think the Obama administration is “good for America”. But that is exactly what the MSM is going to tell us. Who knows when the knives will come out for Romney, but as soon as he appears inevitable, he will get his turn in the MSM meat-grinder and I doubt he’s got the grit to either withstand it or push back effectively.

All those malleable voters (on the left AND the right) will swallow the MSM’s spin hook, line and sinker and vote like they are told. We see that election after election with *very* few exceptions. The supposed “unfair influence” of the super-PACs have *nothing* on the “unfair influence” of the MSM.

If anyone has any ideas on how to change that, speak now. We have four years to work on it. It’s likely too late to affect this election much...

FR is an echo chamber. Reality is much different. Sarah Palin is not running. She was damaged by the MSM and that’s a fact of life.

Remember around 50% of the people approve of Obama.

It would be nice to have an electorate that wants a hard core conservative pushing a hard core conservative platform. But we have to deal with the electorate we have, not the one we wish we had.

That means setting realistic goals and building a realistic coalition to win an actual election.

There is no white knight coming.

"Sarah Palin has the misfortune of being attractive, thus this alienates her with many woman voters, who see her as a "rival" for the affections of men in their lives. From a man's point of view, this sounds totally ludicrous. However, I am made to understand by women in my life that little angers them more than to see women more attractive than themselves achieve positions of power. In their minds, very attractive women have a duty to remain in subservient roles"

As a woman, I have to say that way of female-thinking makes no sense to me. My husband thinks Sarah Palin is beautiful, and it doesn't bother me a bit---she IS!

The women in my husband's family mystify me, though. They are all very beautiful women, even my MIL as she ages, and they used to adore Sarah. Now they can't stand her. I can't figure it out.

It really is strange. I see it in my workplace as well, to a certain extent. I've actually had female employees (I'm a manager) come to me and request not to have to report to a female manager.

Now if a male employee came to me and said he would refuse to report to a female manager, we would have an HR issue. But with woman employees, it's just not worth the battle and most male managers don't mind having female employees report under them so it kind of works out.

My wife says it's the "Queen Bee" syndrome but she can't put into words what that means (that makes sense to me). She also prefers having a male manager because she hates having to report to another woman.

I am no expert on women (no man is, obviously), but I had thought that as VP Sarah might be less unappealing to that aspect of female psychology than she would be at the top of the ticket simply because she would be subordinate to a man (the President) in a relationship where she could act as a positive influence, a conscience and a backbone in places where he (especially if it is Mitt) would definitely need one.

I. DO. NOT. TRUST. MITT. ROMNEY!!!

That being said, it does look like he is going to be the nominee. If he IS the nominee and he doesn’t have a firm hand watching him, it’s going to be a charlie-fox, even if we win. With Sarah on the ticket, I would feel much safer and more confident that he would do what he was elected to do because she would make his life pure Hell if he didn’t.

Now, people have talked a lot about Colonel West. My problem with the Colonel is that he is a colonel. He’s safety-wired into the “yessir” mode when it comes to orders from on high. I don’t think he would be inclined to object strenuously when Mitt veered into mushy RINO territory. He would, however, be perfect as SecState or even SecDef.

BTTT

Republicans gather into cells, each with its own pet agendae, and each with the short-sightedness that keeps them from uniting behind a common theme

OTOH, the leftists have had a clear aim - take over the reins of power - and have worked diligently and shrewdly towards that aim. We're stuck with proving a negative - that less government will solve more problems than statism. Lost in the shuffle are such ideas as liberty, the rights of the individual, the tragedy of the commons, etc.

I love Allen West, but I never thought about that aspect of his military training...you make a good point. Personally, I wouldn’t want to see him or Sarah associated with that rattlesnake Romney. IMO, he wouldn’t pick her in the first place; there was an article here on FR about his remarks that a brokered convention would be full of “evangelicals and people like Sarah Palin.” I think he looks down on her. And, I believe Sarah has said she would not accept the #2 job again.

LOL!!! I just had a crazy thought. West as SecDef, striding into the Pentagon on the first day after his confirmation...

Th Chairborne Brigade would freak! Lots of Generals and Admirals would be turning in papers quick. Going to be some new blood promoted upstairs. Time for the sandbox combat vet generation to get their stars.

Now, with Sarah keeping an eye on Mitt, and West shepherding the political commissars out the door, close your eyes and imagine when he starts shutting down the useless feel-goodie stuff and supporting the men and women in uniform in ways that are real and show our genuine gratitude.

It’s a nice fantasy. I’d love to see it come true.

The Republican party is fractured beyond repair.

Wish I had a dollar every time I've seen this. Been seeing this since 1964.
