Guilty as charged. I was once a secretary and in those days, I had impeccable spelling and grammar. Had to or I’d be fired. Now I’m sloppy. Even worse, I don’t proofread as I should, and that makes for some really gawd-awful, unintelligible posts.

Confusion often arises from the fact that martial law is enforced by a provost marshal.

NOT boarder as in the guy who gets a bedroom in your house and dinner for a fee)
A "boarder" would also be the person who smacks you upsida yo head with a "board" for being such a spelling nazi.......

Hildabeast vs Hildebeest, when referring to the Secretary of State. The latter is correct, being derived from
wildebeest, aka gnu, an unclean beast with cloven hooves.

It's OK. I'm an English teacher, and most mistakes I've encountered here (or anywhere else) are easily made, especially if people are keyboarding in a hurry. It's only the REALLY bad and glaring examples that make me mutter to myself
.

I agree, we need to tow the line on this one!
(That’s what you do with a line, right? You tow it.)

Guilty - I used plane instead of plain last month - and I should know better: embarrassing.

“Could of/would of” instead of “could have/would have.”
Okay, question, please. For days FR has been timing out like crazy for me. It took me seven tries to get my posts and four tries to get to this thread. Anyone else?

Correct spelling and useage is so restraining; like being caught in a vice, it is!
But good on you for trying.
If this lesson doesn’t work, next time you can take a different tact.

Seriously, now, this is something that gets me irritated:
coulda, woulda, shoulda, instead of could of, would of, should of.
