Really touching. Unresponsive old man reacts to music from his era.

The part where he does Cab Calloway may cause something to get in your eyes.

That’s amazing. They should introduce this into these care centers for people, music therapy.

The better nursing homes I go into strive to get live entertainment whenever they can. Every resident appreciates music. The old standards are still there, but guess what is a big favorite of the current population--Elvis impersonators. How time flies.

is that a picture of president obama hanging on the wall in the background?

I guess I “tuned” that out....

I should think classical and light classical music would have a similar effect on some residents.

why did it take them 10 yrs to figure this out with this man?....btw, he wasn't "nearly unreponsive"...he answered questions....he was awake....they didn't need to find an Ipod to get this guy going....even piping it over the loudspeaker once in a while would have been enough...
mostly, you have to ENGAGE people like this and converse with them....that's how you keep them with it...

One of my college classes required volunteering for 20 hours and reporting back to the class. One girl volunteered at a nursing home and was talking about how they played children’s songs and nursery rhymes to the senior citizens. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t play music more to their time, like maybe big band music, jazz or blues. It just seemed so disrespectful and condescending to do that to those poor, helpless people.
To: Winstons Julia
Geez...I wasted 6 min of my life on that.

That was great. Loved it.

I agree that you have to engage people.
It seems like he answered things AFTER he was hearing the music.

I haven’t watched it, after reading your and others’ comments, but I think such links should be honestly labeled with warnings that go something like “For Thomas Kinkade & Whitney Houston” fans.
