His name is pronounced ‘doo-mahs,’ but it’ll be properly pronounced ‘dumbass’ once he’s inevitably mauled.

This guy is nuts. People are sometimes able to have bonds with animals (if they’ve raised them), but polar bears? No way.

It’s a bear he’s raised from a cub, they’re very smart animals and I doubt the bear would mistake him for a seal.

He’s lucky it’s a female. He wouldn’t be alive today if it was a male. Since it is a female he might have another year or so. Just IMHO, of course.

That's just it. People bond easily with animals but that is no guarantee that the animal bonds back. To expect otherwise is to live in a Disney cartoon world.

No, he’s not going to mistake him for anything. But everything I’ve ever read says polar bears are singularly incapable of long-term relationships with humans, because of their extreme aggression.

You’re right, it’s always a risk. Not to say it hasn’t been done. I kind of think that, when it happens, it’s God giving us a little glimpse of the way it was in Eden, and the way it will be again one day.

Looks like the bear is in a leg snare. And they are using the pole to inject a tranquilizing drug into it.

Unlikely to live to see 61 if he keeps the polar bear swim dates going.

Timothy Treadwell came to a Grizzly end.

I think all they found of him was his wrist watch attached to part of his wrist. The bears had a good meal of him.

He was a nutt job.

edpc, I was trained by the RCR in the Arctic, and the first rule was that if you even see a Polar Bear, it's already considering you as lunch.

They're not pets - ever ................................. FRegards
