HMS Renown was a battlecruiser and had no flight deck. The Spifires must have taken off from the USS Wasp.

I thought that was interesting too. A bit of a typo from the "onwar" guys. Here's a different picture of the Renown. It is Not either of two carriers on the left. (HMS Furious and HMS Courageous).
