No one is staying home. Not the Romney people, not the anti-Romney people. Just wanted to clarify.

We do not care if Mitt or Obama wins

My guess is that your "We" encompasses a much smaller percentage of "conservatives" than you either pretend or truly believe.

As bizarre as I'm sure it seems to you, Romney has somehow in fact ALWAYS been getting a percent of conservatives supporting him, even when there were real good conservatives available to choose from. As candidates fell by the wayside, more conservatives came to support Romney. Now if Gingrich is getting out, I would not be surprised if most conservatives will be supporting Romney.

You are of course free to support or not support whoever you want. I'm not telling you to support Romney. I'm saying that you do not accurately speak for most conservatives in your claim.

It would be an interesting poll, to find out what percentage of Freepers would say they "do not care" whether Romney or Obama wins.

BTW, for some who would disagree with you, it's because they would actually prefer Obama over Romney.

Better Obama, who will DELIVER exactly what Romney will,
BUT Obama will finally be impeached.

It’s funny how so many people are convinced Carter was a bad president.

I always thought it was a bad idea to give up the Panama Canal, not to mention throwing the Shaw of Iran under the bus..

To that point you should be campaigning for Romney, there is no way Dems can win house and Senate if Romeny carries Presidential election. That is our hope for controlling a left leaning Romney. As I have stated numerous times, you think the first four years of Obama were bad, what happens when he doesn’t have to worry about re-election how bad will get then!!!

This doesn't make any sense. How will Romney (or even Obama) winning affect the Congressional elections? They are all done at the same time...

The Congress is very likely to turn completely over to the Republicans. That will make Obama a lame-duck prez. Don't fret too much if he wins... in fact, the Republican Congress is less likely to vote in favor of bad legislation Obama tries to bring.

However, that same congress WOULD vote in favor of bad policy from Romney (for the sake of party unity of course). The country may actually be safer with a lame-duck Obama! Then we can try again in 2016 and Mitt will be too broke to run again. LOL

I won't vote for liberals. Obama and Romney are liberals.

Must be too complicated a concept for the Romney folks...

What you said is 100% correct. We got past Carter in about 30 seconds, LBJ is still with us, and I suspect that we will have trouble getting 0 out of our lives in the foreseeable future.

We cannot call ourselves patriots and sit out this election. Obama, if re-elected will change this nation forever. One more SCOTUS appointment like Kagan or Sotomayor and it’s all over. We don’t take primary battles to the general election. Elections are about choices not whether all of mine or anybody else’s principles will be compromised. Gingrich was an unmitigated disaster and a spoiler-in-chief who enabled Romney to squeak by wins in MI (3%) and in OH (under 1%). His baggage (and not just his personal stuff) was enormously heavy to bring down a fleet of 747s. Cap and trade, early support for the individual mandate; NY23; $1.6m Fannie Mae lobbying fee and the list goes on. His campaign, if it could be called that was quixotic and in a perpetual state of terminal chaos punctuated between penguin bites and bounced checks in Utah, and a never ending on-again, off-again campaign. His negatives were sky-high and his gender gap was oceans apart. Like it or not, this was the reality.

This is an epochal election. We must do all in our power to vote out Obama. You can bet that the SEIU, Black Panthers, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, NEA; GLBT; Emily’s List; La Raza; NAACP; and all of Hollywood and dead people and illegals will be enlisted to vote for Obama.

“Hell, Carter has done more damage to the US SINCE he left office than he ever did while in office.”

And we ain’t (sic) seen nothing yet... no matter when zero leaves office, he will use his past position to continue to work against the USofA. Remember, he has been privy to all of the US’s military secrets, and it’s probable he will give that information to the Muslim brotherhood, let alone interfere in international affairs as Jimmah Carter has done...

And now, cue the entry, STAGE LEFT, of the Democrat-Financed AMERICA VOTES PARTY, with a “Conservative” candidate like Alan Simpson, to siphon off the critical 3-4% of R votes in key swing states.

THEY HAVE BEEN PLANNING THIS FOR TWO YEARS, FOLKS.

Don’t be stupid and fall for it.

Newt's a great candidate, I'd vote for him happily given the chance, but he's been on the wrong side a few times in his career -- his endorsement of Scozzafava (who later endorsed the Democrat) comes to mind.

This is another "Scozzafava moment" for Newt.

Voting for socialist Romney is as nuts as voting for socialist Obama. I have a duty to vote, and as a conservative who understands liberalism/statism for the threat to freedom that it is, I have a duty to vote to reject liberalism. If the General is O vs R, I'm voting third party for the express purpose of using my vote to help make whatever socialist wins, Obama or Romney, enter office with the smallest plurality possible and therefore embattled and weakened by the fact that the majority voted against him. When Clinton won with only 43 percent, he got his ass kicked in the mid-terms. So I'll use my vote to try to make the victor as weak and opposed as possible.

"A new candidate! Yes, this shiny new candidate is a Conservative. Virgil Goode comes Constitutionally vetted and can be yours if...your ballot's right."

That's special.

Virgil Goode has absolutely, and I repeat, absolutely no chance whatsoever of being elected President in 2012. A vote for Virgil good is a vote for Barack Obama.

Romney will never "listen". Willard hates Conservatives.

I agree and will raise you one. If, God forbid, Romney got in (I pray that he loses and is vanquished), he would become a velvet-gloved tyrant. If he is anything like his supporters as we got to know them here four years ago, he is deeply contemptuous of conservative Republicans who have the nerve to doubt his judgment, and he is profoundly condescending. He is also RUTHLESS.

It's well known that desperation and panic make people do stupid things they'd never do otherwise. No conservative in his or her right mind would ever vote for a Democrat who held the same positions as Romney -- indeed, they would rightly be on the warpath against such a Democrat. Conservatives who vote for Romney will be doing so because they're in their WRONG minds. I pray that people get over their fear and start thinking soon enough to understand that Romney is VERY BAD NEWS FOR AMERICA.

We have much better odds of surviving Obama, especially if he is elected with such a low plurality that 60% to 66% of the vote was AGAINST him, dealing a brutal blow to any pretense of endorsement or mandate, than we have of surviving an era when GOOD GOD-FEARING SMART CONSERVATIVES would give their precious vote (and thereby surrender the Republican party) to a candidate whose records shows total betrayal of both the moral values and the political principles they hold dear.

BEWARE of Romney. He would be a BIG BIG MISTAKE.

Think it through.

Newt’s conservative record:

* supported anthropogenic global warming
* supported universal health care
* supported the Individual Mandate.
* supported Bush’s prescription drug program
* joined Bush43 in supporting the McCain-Kennedy Comprehensive Immigration Reform
* supports amnesty for millions of illegal aliens
* supported TARP
* called the Ryan budget plan, “Right-wing Social Engineering”
* endorsed liberal “Dede” Scozzafava over the conservative Doug Hoffman in NY23 election
* Newt supported ESC research and the need to have govt funding
* supported cap and trade, then supposedly flipped
* proclaimed “The Era of Reagan is Over.”
