Another side of Romney
4/30/12

Posted on 04/30/2012 11:54:08 AM PDT by Don Corleone

Snopes.com confirmed this as true... \http://www.snopes.com/politics/romney/search.asp

Sometimes, this facet of Romney’s personality isn’t so subtle. In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy.

Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York, and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could – prostitutes, drug addicts – anyone.

That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, “It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die.”

So, here’s my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can’t help himself. He sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn’t do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that’s just how he’s wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar. When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three years, and wouldn’t use an expense account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.

Character counts!! (and yes...that's worth reading again!)

And all Obama would’ve done was said, “If I had a daughter, she’d look like this missing girl.”

Good move by Mittens on this one.

Great re-writing of history however.
Read post #250, it has the original article.

You have performed a valuable service my FRiend.

May God guide our course out of this mess, that we have gotten ourselves into.

“I think the old standby definitions of who votes for which party have been blown away in this campaign. I think people recognize that I’m not a partisan Republican—that I’m someone who is moderate, and that my views are progressive.”
-Mitt Romney (2002)

Video of the quote:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMcjJEXt9To

Obama continued: “I am somebody who is no doubt progressive. I believe in a tax code that we need to make more fair. I believe in universal health care. I believe in making college affordable. I believe in paying our teachers more money. I believe in early childhood education. I believe in a whole lot of things that make me progressive.”

I'm sure Romney has done some very nice things for people. So what?

To impress me he has to do nice things for liberty, and very nasty things to tyranny.

I will die just as soon in the Romney built gulag as the Obama built gulag.

On the bright side, the Romney built gulag will be a good bipartisan compromise gulag, pleasing the moderate American people, much better than the hated dictator Obama's socialist prison camp.

What about the daughters of poor non-Mormon men who also went missing that day ???

What did Willie Mitty do about them...

also this wasnt the idea of Willie Mitty and he was not in charge...

This was posted in 2008...

and also already this time..

It came out back in 2008 that an urban legend making Willie Mitty a larger than life Last Action Hero was conveniently developed for his political office runs...

It seems he also may not have been as hands on as the fairy tale reports...

There are missing children right now weho were not derugged up runaways...

Why isnt your wonder boy out beating the bushes for them ???

I think you may be a little bit too soon for most of the Freepers here. Some are determined to not vote for Romney, no matter what. Heck, I have a hard time blaming them. Personally, I didn’t vote for McCain, I cast my vote for Sarah, for all the good that did. Here I am ready to hold my nose when voting for the top of the ticket again. What DOES excite me is 1) working for a Republican majority in the Senate and gaining more seats in the House 2) Saying “bye-bye ‘Bamster”.

Character counts!!

It does and Romney has no more principles politically than Bill Clinton did. He has repeatedly flip-flopped on issue after issue to get elected or nominated. Those that worked for him have admitted he betrayed his Mormon beliefs and became vehemently pro-abortion solely to get elected in Massachusetts.

He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter.

I am somewhat skeptical. This does not seem like a particularly intelligent approach by someone who is so super-smart.

How are 30 partners and employees with no LEO or investigative experience supposed to be effective in such a role? No street-smarts in the whole bunch.

If I had Romney's money and contacts, I think I could find a much more effective way to go about finding a missing child. Hiring a hundred PIs with experience springs to mind. Might even have cost less that the approach he took.

FWIW, old Ross Perot (remember him?) got his employees out of Iran when taken hostage, when the US government couldn't rescue its diplomates.

Good for Ross. But that doesn't mean he'd have made a good president.

A vote for Virgil Goode will be as effective as a vote for Ross Perot was in 92...and will have the same effect... but then, you can get a bumper sticker that says “Don’t blame me, I voted for Virgil Goode” and feel good about yourself as Obama finishes what he started. But, hey that’s OK ‘cause we all know that Romney would do exactly the same thing as BO!

What constitutes spamming? The fact that I had a glitch that caused me to post 3 times is not spamming.

I don’t like Romney. My first choice was Perry. When he dropped out, I went to Newt. Romney will be the nominee. Am I happy? No. Will I vote for him? Yes. Because he is still better than Obama. Anyone who says differently is a fool.

I’ve heard all the arguments, but even if Romney takes us toward the precipice at 200 MPH, its better than Obama taking us there at light speed.

We knowe both Willard Mitt Romney and Barak Hussein Obama are evil...

if we are to flee the very appearance...somethiong that only looks evil...

how much more are we not to assoociate at all with real known evil ...

and not endorse it...

nor vote for it...

and yet it seems quasi Christians and moderates only want to flee one and not the other...
