Another side of Romney
4/30/12

Posted on 04/30/2012 11:54:08 AM PDT by Don Corleone

Snopes.com confirmed this as true... \http://www.snopes.com/politics/romney/search.asp

Sometimes, this facet of Romney’s personality isn’t so subtle. In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy.

Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York, and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could – prostitutes, drug addicts – anyone.

That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, “It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die.”

So, here’s my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can’t help himself. He sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn’t do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that’s just how he’s wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar. When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three years, and wouldn’t use an expense account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.

Character counts!! (and yes...that's worth reading again!)

Great article! I didn’t know this story.

As for the anti-Romney Freepers? They are sad today, Romney is up in Gallup over the islamofascist.

Character counts!!

It does and Romney has no more principles politically than Bill Clinton did. He has repeatedly flip-flopped on issue after issue to get elected or nominated. Those that worked for him have admitted he betrayed his Mormon beliefs and became vehemently pro-abortion solely to get elected in Massachusetts.

According to you Willie Mitty is like Christina Hufner...

Her father Hugh had his PlayBoy mag and exploited thousands of young years for decades...

Daughter Christina decided a few years ago to start a program to help “save” young girls mixed up in prostitution and drugs...

There here is Willie Mitty endorsing and taking filthy lucre from a company that showed smut in the rooms of its hotels...

right on the board where he could tell them to stop it but NO not him...

Instead he is a hero for “saving” some girl mixed up in sex and drugs ...

Willie Mitty and Christina Hufner...birds of a feather...

He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter.

I am somewhat skeptical. This does not seem like a particularly intelligent approach by someone who is so super-smart.

How are 30 partners and employees with no LEO or investigative experience supposed to be effective in such a role? No street-smarts in the whole bunch.

If I had Romney's money and contacts, I think I could find a much more effective way to go about finding a missing child. Hiring a hundred PIs with experience springs to mind. Might even have cost less that the approach he took.

FWIW, old Ross Perot (remember him?) got his employees out of Iran when taken hostage, when the US government couldn't rescue its diplomates.

Good for Ross. But that doesn't mean he'd have made a good president.

A vote for Virgil Goode will be as effective as a vote for Ross Perot was in 92...and will have the same effect... but then, you can get a bumper sticker that says “Don’t blame me, I voted for Virgil Goode” and feel good about yourself as Obama finishes what he started. But, hey that’s OK ‘cause we all know that Romney would do exactly the same thing as BO!

Never mind, I googled it and yes, Mr Gay is Mormon.

Who would ever have thought a mormon girl would attend a rave party? s/

No fan of Romney here... but I’ll say this: What’s described here is far, far more than the jug-eared Kenyan POS would’ve ever done.

Yes Mr Gay is very Mormon...

as was his drug addict daughter...

Today bishop Gay is a member of the “first quorum of the seventy”

The top CEOs in the multi BILLION dollar Mormon company

The guys who get the big bucks and bonuses and bennies from the pyramid scheme that is Mormonism..

What constitutes spamming? The fact that I had a glitch that caused me to post 3 times is not spamming.

I don’t like Romney. My first choice was Perry. When he dropped out, I went to Newt. Romney will be the nominee. Am I happy? No. Will I vote for him? Yes. Because he is still better than Obama. Anyone who says differently is a fool.

I’ve heard all the arguments, but even if Romney takes us toward the precipice at 200 MPH, its better than Obama taking us there at light speed.

Let’s say this story is exactly like presented here (it’s not but let’s just for fun say it is), that does not excuse Romney’s liberalism and $50 abortions support- so much for rescuing baby girls.

“...instinctive problem solver”.

The problem is that his instincts leap to the left EVERY time without fail.

Great, he did a tremendous thing rescuing a child in serious danger. I applaud him for that.

Still, NO SALE.
