RAVENA -- New York State Police say they caught a man on a motorcycle doing nearly 170mph on the Thruway on Tuesday.

Troopers say spotted 25-year-old Nikkolaus McCarthy of Charleton near Ravena, gave chase, but broke it off soon after.

State Police caught up with him later in New Paltz when he ran low on gas. He was arrested and faces a slew of charges.

When he was taken into custody, McCarthy told officers he was capable of going even faster.

RAVENA -- Authorities say a 25-year-old upstate New York man has been arrested after troopers clocked him driving his motorcycle at 170 mph on the Thruway.

“Where i crank my bike there is a 6 ft concrete barrier for 12 miles between the east/west traffic and very little traffic.”

It’s cool, so you might only kill just 1 family or some single old man with your shenanigans. Seems like a reasonable tradeoff, risking others lives for your self gratification.

I own that bike. 1/4 mile in 10 seconds @ 145 mph. So that’s zero to 145 in ten seconds.

Mine will do about the same, and supposedly will top out around 200, but I've only run it up to 150 several times and it will get there very quickly. I'm 53 and my playtime is now mostly 0 to 100. Click my screen name to see a pic.

Yeah, about that. It’s called the Autobahn, and people routinely and safely ride their motorcycles at over 200mph on it.

Yup. Mine does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, for that matter.

Modern bikes are seriously fast.

Several studies have shown that speed doesn't kill, it's the difference of relative speeds between vehicles that cause most accidents. Like on I-696 in Detroit. Everybody goes 80 to 90 MPH. Is it more dangerous than other nearby interstates? No. BTW, the nickname for I-696 between Mt. Clemens and Southfield is "the autobahn" LOL.

I prefer the rockin’ chair situation, kicked back slow putt enjoyin’ the sites and smells of a mountain road. I really feel sorry for those that think speeding through life in all situations is the only way to live.

God gave us windin’ two lanes to enjoy the scenery. Just watch out for the sand and pebbles in the corners.

At 0:48 in this video, the guy is close enough to my house that had he lost it there, pieces of him could have landed in my yard. I heard him passing by.

BTW, the dotted white lines have a reflective button every second stripe. How he kept from losing it while crossing them at that speed is beyond my comprehension.

I gave up bikes in 1988 after 25 years of riding pretty much only two wheels.

LOL, doesn't sound like to me you have. The only thing that matters is that it has two wheels! ;) My goto now:

We pay nearly the highest road taxes in USA but they are full of potholes, some dating from the Paleolithic Era. Sand would be an improvement. Count yer blessings. (We just got one repaired. It took a year of a whole bunch of people to get it done. The “work crews” or their stuporvisors went out to “inspect it” or mostly just “appreciate it” at least 6 times “to evaluate what should be done with it.” (Like, man, how about FIXING it!? Its spelled T-A-R, ok?” Ha! Well, one down, 69,000,000,000 to go! Ha.

"Yeah, about that. It’s called the Autobahn, and people routinely and safely ride their motorcycles at over 200mph on it."

Oh....I'm sorry. Which State of the Union is the Autobahn located in? I missed that part of geography where they mentioned that part of the USA.

Also, do they have the road conditions like the Autobahn in the USA, ANYWHERE in the Midwest, New England, etc.?

Also, is there a POSTED SPEED LIMIT on the Autobahn, like on ALL U.S. roads? (I thought not....but then, Highway and Local Laws don't apply to crotch-rocket/penis-envy types, like it does to mere mortals)
