BEASTIE BOYS' MCA(Adam Yauch) Dead at 47
TMZ.com ^ | 5/4/12 | staff

Posted on 05/04/2012 10:10:08 AM PDT by GQuagmire

So far, it's not clear if the death is related to the rapper's battle with cancer.

Russell Simmons' website GlobalGrind.com first reported the death. We have spoken to people independently connected to the rapper who also say he is dead.

Yauch co-founded Beastie Boys in 1979 with Mike D, Mix Master Mike, and Ad Roc. The group has won multiple Grammys.

Yauch became a vegan at the recommendation of his Tibetan doctors.

Yauch is survived by his wife and daughter. He was 47.

Sad, sad news.

Another one of my generation and my youth is gone.

Rest in Peace, Adam. You guys were an important part of the soundtrack of my high school and college days.

The whole band had been involved with Tibetan causes for most of their career.

It was cancer. Cancer strikes many demographics; healthy, unhealthy, vegan, carnivore alike.

The Brooklyn-born musician known to fans as MCA was first treated for cancerous growths in his parotid gland and a lymph node in 2009 and subsequently underwent surgery and radiation therapy, which forced the delay of the Beastie Boys’ most recent album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. His illness has also kept the group off the road, and Yauch missed the group’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two weeks ago.

When Ad-Rock and Mike D accepted the Beastie Boys’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two weeks ago, they read a letter from Yauch thanking both his bandmates and the group’s fans: “I’d like to dedicate this to my brothers Adam and Mike,” he wrote. “They walked the globe with me. It’s also for anyone who has ever been touched by our band. This induction is as much ours as it is yours.”

Yauch is survived by his wife, Dechen Wengdu, and their daughter Losel.

I’m not sure which one of the Beastie Boys wrote these lyrics, but whoever did was a leftist idiot:

“It Takes Time To Build”

If you don’t like the news then press eject
Baby Davis getting older can’t take a rain check
It’s time to let’em know what we expect
Stop building SUV’s strung out on OPEC
Hold up wait up you know we come correct
You wanna change things up, well hey just get set
It’s easier to sit back than stick out your neck
It’s easier to break things than build it correct
We’ve got a president we didn’t elect
The Kyoto treaty he decided to neglect
And still the US just wants to flex
Keep doin’ that wop we gonna break our necks

It takes a second to wreck it
It takes time to build
You gots to chill

Hate filled people wanna keep us in check
Tearin’ down each other is what they expect
If you want love well hey that’s a bet
We’ve got to give before we can get
Waiting like a batter who is on deck
When it’s time to wreck shop then shop I’ll wreck
So let’s calibrate and check our specs
We need a little shift on over towards the left
I don’t really know but I suspect
I think it’s due time that we inspect
How they get their information and their facts are checked
Another press conference someone’s talking out their neck

It takes a second to wreck it
It takes time to build
You gots to chill

So step up to the window and place your bets
Is the US gonna keep breaking necks
Maybe it’s time that we impeach Tex
And the military muscle that he wants to flex
By the time Bush is done what will be left
Selling votes like E-pills at the discotheque
Environmental destruction and the national dept
But plenty of dollars left in the fat war chest
What the real deal why you can’t connect
Why you hating people that you never met
Didn’t your mama teach you to show some respect?
Why not open your mind for a sec?

It takes a second to wreck it
It takes time to build
You gots to chill

Beasties were not just leftist. They were sick and depraved. And it wasn’t that good, anyway. “Rap” with horrid scratchy metal guitar thrown in.

That said, God bless him, even so. Maybe he had his redemption in the end.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Motley Crue's bassist, Nikki Sixx, did overdose on drugs and was technically dead for a few minutes. He was resuscitated and managed to get out of the hospital fairly quickly - of course he immediately went back to shooting heroin again.

Still, Motley Crue and lot of those 80's glam metal bands are still touring and making music. Many of them have held up remarkably well and are still huge concert draws.

I just did some buying of 80’s metal CD’s for my 21 year old SIL. He loves that stuff....what I found interesting is that Poisen’s stuff was priced WAY over the market for other bands. I passed on them, but they must have some hard core cult following!

OK, sorry for hijacking the thread...
