Bristol Palin's gay marriage rant: Obama girls watch too much 'Glee'
Politico ^ | 5/10/2012 | By CAITLIN MCDEVITT

Bristol Palin thinks it’s laughable that President Barack Obama’s children influenced his decision to support same-sex marriage.

“While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads,” Bristol, the eldest daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, wrote in a blog post titled “Hail to the Chiefs – Malia and Sasha Obama” on Thursday.

Obama said on Wednesday that his daughers' acceptance of friends with same-sex parents helped prompt his "change in perspective." In response, Palin writes:

In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.

In this situation, it was the other way around. I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox.

Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.

That’s great. Malaria and Sushi must make their parents so proud. I think they’ve earned another vacation. Where haven’t they been yet? How about an afternoon in the Castro district of San Francisco. They can observe same sex marriage up close and personal.

Thanks Bristol! For a moment from title, I thought perhaps Bristol had come out for gay marriage, that would have been very depressing!!!

Thank God, that`s not what she said!

Parenting can be stellar and yet the kid still messes up. It happens. At a certain age, they start making their own choices, and they can be disappointing, opposed to fundamental truths you taught them. But in Bristol’s case, there are extenuating circumstances. She was, in essence, date-raped. Victims of this often blame themselves to some degree. But the reality is that sex without informed consent is, both morally and legally, rape, and it is not right to blame the victim or the victim’s parents for the vile deeds of third parties, even if the victim struggles to reconstruct the event into something she can handle.

My thought exactly. I don’t know what it is, and given the topic at hand (gay marriage), I’m a bit afraid to google it...

It’s a party poll meme that Obama took his cue on this issue from his daughters.

He’s been for same-sex marriage all along.

He had to claim otherwise the last election because the church going black voters do not support homosexual marriage.

He’s tossing them under the bus this time around.

She has openly acknowledged her mistakes on that front... and it does not mean she has not made a cogent observation on the situation.

Remember when he listed off the 20 things each of which were at the top of his mind as he put his kids to bed?

He lies like a Stalinst.

Take a look at history, probably even in your own family, the first one can come anytime, the rest all take nine months. I can forgive and understand “once”...at the same time I”m so glad she is free of that stud Levi. Hopefully she has realized that there is a difference between “love” and “passion”. Her efforts to display remorse and to love, honor, cherish and raise her little boy is commenable. Few, and that is a precious few, are qualified to throw stones. You managed to cast one of the first, The Bible has some real surprises for hypocrites you might want to read.

“I don’t even know what Glee is. It’s not good, right?”

I think it deals with a high school glee club, but don’t take my word for it.....

Thank you! That “no one can ever talk about a subject in which they previously faltered in” mentality is exceedingly lame. It’s not difficult to make a strong case that Bristol is better suited than most to discuss it.

I have four daughters and my first daughter and last the last two are pretty devout conservatives: socially, fiscally, everything.

But, my second daughter is an off-the-rails, OWS-wannabe! Even my youngest at 16 years old asked, "What house did she grow up in?" I changed my parenting skills to meet the needs of my kids, because they are each different, but my core message has always been, self-reliance, self-discipline, hard-work and family love will keep you out of trouble and guarantee you a long life.

She thinks the world, me and everyone else owes her something! I truly do not know what caused her to have this attitude. Now that she has two daughters, she has calmed down some but still thinks that the government should provide houses, jobs, food, cars, etc... for the people. She started slipping away in the eight grade and by the end of the tenth grade she was completely out of my hands. Still to this day I don't know or understand.

Note, that this isn’t a “rant”.

It is a well thought out commentary.

Big difference.

Glee is a Fox Channel sitcom. It is done to a lot of music, (remember Glee club in school?) but of course they are pushing Gayism.

She’s exactly right. The propaganda spread by the filth on TV is why young people hold views in opposition to traditional values. What’s more, the failure of fathers to teach their children is what is causing the downfall of our civilization.

We were warned, and are constantly reminded to keep the Obama kids out of things. They are just children.

However, whenever Obama wants to talk about something controversial...or he wants to act as though he cares about an issue...he mentions his daughters. He did it when he said he favored abortion, he did it when he talked about contraception, and now he does it when he talks about gay marriage. Guess the kids are no longer off limits since Daddy is constantly including them and obviously considers their input valuable to our nation????

Actually, it is disgusting how Obama uses his daughters, and hides behind them. They probably would have been better off with another woman as a parent, because Obama is certainly no man! Imagine the confusion in that family.

Daddy is supposed to have been so smart, but no one can see his grades. Daddy said he was born in Kenya when he was running for the Senate, but that was changed to Hawaii when he ran for President. Daddy said he didn't believe in late term abortion, but when he was a Senator he voted in favor of it. Daddy has several social security numbers and several different names. Daddy was a citizen of Indonesia when he was a child, but no one has seen any proof that he reaffirmed any U.S. citizenship. Daddy used to take them regularly to Rev. Wright's Black Liberation Theology church to listen to the rants against America...and then he severed ties with Wright and claims to love this country. And speaking of religion, Daddy claims to be a Christian...but they don't go to church except on holidays for photo ops. Daddy cancelled the National Day of Prayer Breakfast at the White House, saying government and religion shouldn't mix...but allowed the Muslims to hold a religious celebration on the White House lawn. I could go on and on, but we have all seen the hypocrisy of What's his name Obama.

How can that man face his children when, now that they are older, they must realize the lies and conflicting stories that they have been told by the man who claims (and the media claims) is such a good and loving father?

Seems to me he is a father who has to be giving them examples of how to live a lie, how to cover up your lies, and how to blame others for your own decisions. Let alone making them question their own heritage. If Obama was confused as a child, imagine the confusion of his children! What an awful example he is.
