The picture with Margaret Thatcher at Reagan’s casket still brings a tear to my eye.

This one got to me.

I'm not sure where I found this photo. It may have been FR. If anyone knows, please give credit where due.

If the author was looking for powerful and iconic, he made a mistake and left out the most powerful.

These should have been the first two.

I know of no other photograph which is more powerful, historical or which exhibits triumph of the human spirit, than these two images.

It’s all pictures of liberal hippie causes....

Damned freakin' hippies at Tianenmen Square, Normandy Beach, tornados, hurricanes and the moon...

Do you have the one of the guy standing on the bed of his pickup saluting as the plane carrying Reagan’s body was landing in California?

I love the photo of Thatcher at Reagan's coffin. I remember her curtsey-ing to him when she first approached the coffin. It was so moving.

When I think of a photo that is "moving", I always think of the photo of one of our guys in Iraq, with a little girl cradled in his arms, who had been a victim of a bombing.

If looks could kill, only two in the picture would be around today.

Good addition to the list (last helicopter out). That one always gets me. You can feel the fear and desperation, but also, I always wonder ‘how did it come to this?’

I can’t believe they think these are the 40 most important photos and I agree pretty much they are huggy-kissy-love-my-pet liberal photos.

I didn’t see Iwo Jima, or the sailor kissing her girl on Times Square, very few action photos, nobody is doing anything, really, just a lot of emoting.

Picture of Canadian troops embarking probably taken on 6th Street of New Westminster if we consider they are marching to a railway station. The other option would by Main Street in Vancouver but the truckload of hay bales suggests something closer to a rural environment.

Amazing that the Canadians, with their limited population, were able to muster so many volunteers and over a year prior to Pearl Harbor.
