How do you account for the millions of children who get the same shots your sons did and DON'T get autism? Again, use science not metaphors.

BTW, did your sons get the shot from the same batch and at the same time? Your posts suggest as much.

“What is different about vaccines today than when we were growing up?”

I had a retired medical professional tell me that much has changed with vaccines since we were kids (like everything else) they have became more advanced and elaborate, from what I understood they have concentrated many into one, and from what she told me they are using aluminium as a binding agent.
I'm not as informed as she is, so I can't go into detail like she did, but if you are implying that there is no difference in the vaccines then and now then you would be mistaken.

I was going to ask exactly what is autism and how is it diagnosed? Seems the rate of children with autism has exploded.

No they did not get the shots at the same time, but it was close because they are 11 months apart in age. It was done at the same clinic though, and with the same results.
I can’t say why it does not have the same affect on ALL the kids that have had the MMR jab, I’m not a Heath professional or a scientist. What I do know is that 1 in 8 kids in my area have been diagnosed, and show signs.
I objected to having my youngest receive the MMR after what happened with my oldest, but you can’t say no to the NHS, they will have your kids taken away by social services if you don’t subject your kids to the injections. It’s a damn if you do, damn if you don’t situation

I wasn’t implying anything. I simply asked a question that I was hoping for an answer to. I hope to have grandchildren some day and would like to know how to prevent autism. Geesh.

autism is a spectrum disorder, probably that accounts for the widening diagnosis

with a kid who is “on the spectrum” all I can say is there may be some abuse of the system to obtain government benefits, but a lot of parents who never expected, are raising kids who are significantly impaired and no one knows what caused it.

However some envirnmentally introduced toxin, before or after birth, seems awfully suspicious. In my adopted son’s case we know the cause - happened happened before birth combined with conditions after his brth

However, the vaccine lobby seems too “PC” and powerful to be adequately investigated = much like global warming .. the onset of this condition after vaccination reaction is just too too frequent to allow parents to be at ease with soothing experts

A generation where 5% or more have this disorder ought to be deeply troubling to all of us

My son had a severe reaction to HIS DPT shot, his leg ballooned up and he was screaming a high-pitched scream. I discontinued his shots after that. He has been diagnosed as Aspberger/ADHD. He is fortunately high-functioning, and is extremely intelligent.

My son has the same kind of reaction and we stopped the shots after his 2nd DPT. He is also ADHD. He is 34 years old now. His son just turned 2 years old and is severely autistic.

You can't argue with belief, no matter how many facts you provide to support your argument. Belief is an emotional act and--as anyone who has ever argued with a liberal/greenie should know--you can't beat emotion with logic.

These folks are no different than the "climate change" true believers or "truthers."

In the end, it always boils down to "I just KNOW it's true."

Oh yeah, and anecdotal/personal observation and surmise always trump scientific facts.

Some folks just need someone or thing to blame. It makes them feel comfortable to believe that there is some big amorphous entity out there conspiring to kill us all and hide the fact that they are doing it.

Argument is futile. Disagreement is futile. Resistance is futile. LOL!!!

They also ate your cooking. Maybe that caused it.

We had vaccines in elementary school in the 60’s and 70’s.

Is it an increase in incidence, or in diagnosis?

Autism is genetic. The reason it wasn’t prevalent in the 60’s was that it wasn’t diagnosed. We didn’t have ADHD and Aspergers back then.

When I see an autistic child, I usually see an autistic parent. The university is full of them. The autistic kid in the Boy Scout troop has a dad that is eat up with it. Computer engineer who writes cell phone apps.

I guess everyone who doesn’t share your opinion is evil in your sight.

I bet your kids put glass in baby food served to children in hospitals and make old people eat moldy jello. See, your kids are worse than mine.

I am very active in the autism outreach program, and take part in many events, play groups, outings. I am regularly at the local school for autistic children. It’s safe to say that I have been in contact with literally hundreds of parents of autistic children, and I have observed their children.
I dont see these children as being typical, or normal as other children are. I don’t believe it is an over diagnosis. I definitely see the symptoms.

Just wait until a few thousand people start having personal observation of seeing a child die from measles or pertussis.

I will not enjoy being in the "I told you so" brigade on that day.

“Autism is genetic.”

In many cases you are correct, it is genetic. They are able to test for that, and more often then not it is not genetic. I have dealings with many parents of autistic children that are typically normal.
