Finally, in pictures, a sensible answer to the age old question: "Ginger, or Mary Ann?"
Why not both?
Ending civilization seems a small price to pay...

I will keep my XD-45 and several full mags just in case...or maybe the roll of the dice will give us Raquel, Jenna, and that ‘girl next door’...

There is a great book on the end of civilization called THE EARTH ABIDES written in the 40s. Worthwhile read. Spans generations. Not a zombie book. Thoughtful.

No, God said that the world would be destroyed by fire, not Christians per say.
I interpret the actual destruction of the world by fire coming many millennia after the second coming of Christ.
As for a description of the end of the thousand year period ( and these could be interpreted as prophetic years ) AFTER the second coming of Christ, start here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation+20&version=KJV

"Make sure to stock up on eyeglasses." Perhaps I will schedule cataract surgery...then for the first time in 70+ years I will not need glasses, except for reading, and a good magnifying glass will handle that, if necessary. Hmmm, in fact, why wait for the apocalypse...and btw, that's not so bad, 'apocalypse' is the Greek word for 'revelation'...that sounds good to me! ἀποκάλυψις apokalupsis ap-ok-al'-oop-sis Disclosure: - appearing, coming, lighten, manifestation, be revealed, revelation.

I just read some news today of researchers in Israel starting clinical trials of a new insulin machine. They are using cells taken by liver biopsy, treating them to produce insulin, and then reintroducing them into the body. Seems to have much possibility!

What I mean to say is that God, through the Christian’s New Testament, said that the Earth would be destroyed by fire?
I believe this is the verse they are thinking of.
2 Peter 3:10-13
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.
11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives
12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.
13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
Could it be a massive lightning storm of unparalleled proportions? How about a solar storm hitting the Earth?
It looks like the “day of God” and this massive firestorm are on the same day. Correct me if I am wrong.

Where families and neighbors stick together, civilization doesn’t end. Where they don’t, it does.
Katrina was a good example of both cases. New Orleans where people went crazy and it looked like Mad Maxx, and the rest of the gulf coast where people stuck together.

Could it be a massive lightning storm of unparalleled proportions? How about a solar storm hitting the Earth? It could be or perhaps something far worse: the sun expanding, collision between the earth and a large asteroid and etc.
Don't confuse the "end of the world" which comes millennia after the second coming of Christ - according to Revelation and other Bible scripture. That's not to say some of the above doesn't occur during the period of tribulation.
Matthew 24:22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened."
You're a rocket scientist; don't take my word for it, continue your own research! :)

Try ALAS BABYLON, also a great book about survival in the aftermath. I found the part about salt to be pretty good.
