This devastating photo tells the tragic story of a family dog, shot dead by a police officer as he pursued a robbery suspect on Sunday. Monkey got caught up in the chaos of a foot pursuit along Hodges Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana as officers chased teens believed to have beaten a man in a mall parking lot before stealing his car which they then abandoned. The dog was in a back yard on the street when she heard the commotion and ran out through an open gate.

I don’t think the problem is lack of education.
It’s lack of regard for their fellow citizen.
If it were a lack of education problem, chiefs would have educated their departments *nationwide* after the FIRST such shooting was publicized.
There are far too many of these cases for the culprit to be a lack of education.
Yes, to the point he would not be getting back up again, either.
The suspect running thru the yard lefft the gate open, dog wasn’t charging the officer.
The dog *was* secured. The cop entered the dog owner’s property.
They do. But they more often get kicked by an officer.
FBI gal kicked a family cat and said they were lucky that she didn’t shoot it.
After visiting with the family of the deceased dog today our hearts are heavy for them as well as the police officer that was involved. We don’t know how this could have been avoided right now, as there are no winners in this case. A man who was bringing his parents to the movies was beaten so badly that he had to go to the hospital. Three suspects, two of whom are juveniles are in jail for a violent crime and their parents are sad. The police officer who was involved in the shooting is being scrutinized for his actions, and equally as important a family lost their beloved dog though no fault of their own.

I have long ago resolved that I want no police on my property, ever. I live on 23 acres of isolated woodlands and that makes me think I can pull it off.
Of course, if I find a dead body in my front yard, I will invite them to call, but only after securing my dogs.

Dogs aren't grease for that Great Big Law Enforcement Machine that poops out those wonderful goodies ($40 an hour jobs, retirement at 52) for the meat puppets that run it.
If you want a GREAT response time to a 911 call, tell them that you have a gun, and feel threatened enough to use it.
The cops will be there in seconds to save their meal ticket from you.
FAIL.
