This devastating photo tells the tragic story of a family dog, shot dead by a police officer as he pursued a robbery suspect on Sunday. Monkey got caught up in the chaos of a foot pursuit along Hodges Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana as officers chased teens believed to have beaten a man in a mall parking lot before stealing his car which they then abandoned. The dog was in a back yard on the street when she heard the commotion and ran out through an open gate.

“And I’m getting truly sick of the feral animals roaming our city streets. Really, really tired of their crap”

What feral animals? Cats, dogs, illegal aliens, Democrats? Hate to say, but these days you need to specify what feral animals you’re referring to.

We never felt haunted. Comforted, maybe, happy to see her certainly, but haunted? Never.

Iif the gate was closed (as it should have been) this would be just a story about some hoodrats beating whitey.

How could policemen not be educated in knowing the amiable qualities of Labs and Golden Retrievers? These dogs can be wonderful watch dogs but they are NOT attack dogs. Cops need to know this.

In the turn of responding I simply also generalize. That is not necessarily directing something at you; it’s just the course of conversation. Sorry.

http://www.kplctv.com/story/18942928/outrage-grows-over-police-shooting-of-dog-named-monkey

There’s your police summary along with an article.

Someone else here already posted the original thread which led to that information.

BTW, because of someone’s post on the original thread, I assumed this dog was a (black) German Shepherd (the death pix looks like it). Yet I haven’t seen reference to a breed yet - why assume it’s a Lab? Not that it really matters - a charging dog is a charging dog.

I’m the 1 who wrote “seemed to be attacking”, because I’m not sure as I didn’t experience it. Just going by the word of the police.

This situation is more understandable than some of the other “shot in the back yard before entering the gate” cases that have sometimes passed through. The dog was interfering, at least it seems. I can understand being flustered by that while trying to knock down a violent criminal.

I wish I could see my beloved (and nutsy!) black lab. How I miss him.

I posted this picture in post #1, but it was removed by the moderator. I wonder why?

“These dogs can be wonderful watch dogs but they are NOT attack dogs. Cops need to know this.”

The dog was charging. It doesn’t matter what kind of dog it is when you’re being charged.

The gate WAS closed until the scum ran through their yard and opened it up.

HE is the cause ultimately of this tragedy.

Oh, please. I’ve been charged by dogs before. Stand REAL still and command them to cool their jets. I speak as a very petite woman.

Some of these idiot cops need to be beaten to bloody pulps, and put on public display as a warning for other cops who have no respect for citizens and their property. There are still good cops out there, and they need to put a stop to this nonsense.

1st off, have you been charged by a dog bent on destruction?

2nd, is that what you suggest to someone trying to run down a violent criminal? No, I don’t blame a cop for *not* wanting to stop and lose his man. They don’t have time to stop.
