I guess you got there before I did. LOL! I guess I misunderstood your “ He did not come up with this on his own” statement. I thought you were referring to an outside group or person that might have put him up to it. My bad. Sorry.

Yes, I agree - I posted earlier that the first thing I thought of after seeing his photo was Laughner. I also think you are astute in your observation that killing brings a kind of high.

Don't jump on the mental illness bandwagon. He's shown a meticulous knack for preparation. He's probably just a sociopath OWS devotee.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Everything is not a conspiracy. And unless you have been around crazy people (and I have), real bat-shit crazy people...you can’t understand that they don’t act rationally. I don’t mean that as an insult. But unless you have been hip deep in it, you will still expect “normal” behavior. It would not have surprised me if he sat down afterwards and ate popcorn.

His behavior is exactly what you would expect from a deeply crazy person.

I DETEST people starting conspiracy theories about these terrible events. I think they are evil to be honest.

It appeals to the base instinct in humans nature. Thinking people do not take the bait on this stuff.

Where’d he get all that money though?

1. We don’t know if his parents subsidized him.

2. As a PhD Student, he was probably on a full ride (almost all the fulltime PhD students at decent schools are).

3. He would still be eligible for student loans, giving him extra money.

4. Credit cards.

5. Not paying bills for a few months. It takes a while for that kind of behavior to catch up with you. If you pay the rent so that you aren’t on the street, you can put off paying a lot of folks for a long time.

Where he got the money would be the least of my concerns. The planning with no military or law enforcement background is more curious. That said, there’s a ton o’stuff on the internet. All he would need is interest and time. You’d be surprised at the stuff I learned how to do, right here on FR. : )

I used to work as a bookkeeper for a private social work agency. Some of our clients were schizophrenics. We had one client who refused to take his meds and preferred living on the streets to living in a monitored group home. He came from a very wealthy family and was once a brilliant young man with a bright future and promising career until the illness took hold of him. He would only come in for therapy to get his small monthly allowance that his parents set up for him. He could be calm and rational, even polite and kind one minute and the very next minute would go off in a rage.

He absolutely terrified me.

He’s looking for rational behavior out of a totally crazy man.

Of course it doesn’t add up.

He’s probably schizophrenic, for lack of a better word.

They aren’t going to do normal, predictable, understandable things.

hypothesis: False flag operation. Same as Ft Hood, fast & furious, bombing in Syria. Who benefits? Who suffers?

They were staged! Didn’t you see that O.J.Simpson movie?..............(Anybody remember the title to that pig flick, released around 1979 or so, I don’t).

“Tennessee license plate”

My local news showed a video of the car and zoomed in on the license plate. Maybe the car belongs to Mohammed, hence the initial report of Iranian.

Also, I find it odd that BO and his gang had a special meeting this discuss this incident at Andrews today.

Staged? I would hope the parents of the 6 year old will get their kid back after the curtain goes up...

On the other hand I wonder what it is about Colorado and the fascination with mass murder..the water maybe? but I thought it was just the Coors ...

We had a Colorado transplant shoot up a school in Butte back in the 90’s on;y a few killed not much press but kinda makes me wonder..

Eh, I detest conspiracy theories too, but one of the basic motivations is to manage fear of terrible things (particularly a pathological fear of randomness) and attempt to make sense of the world.

Whether it’s JFK, MLK, RFK, 9/11, or this, it’s actually LESS scary in a lot of ways to believe it’s a giant, well-funded conspiracy rather than a lone gunman or small group of poorly-funded people.

People can’t stand the idea of horrible things happening without some grand overarching cause. The same is true of natural disasters - be it a hurricane, earthquake, or wildfire, it can’t just HAPPEN - it has to be Global Warming, or US Government nuclear weapons testing, or God’s punishment.

How is it that he ended up crouched by his own car? You’d think he would have driven off or had a cab waiting. Something. He also had time to rig the door (?) and the wherewithal to get the costume/body armor (not cheap), etc.

Where are the interviews with people who had seen him earlier or saw him getting himself ready in the parking lot? Or was he ALREADY ready to go?

Ah, Ramadan....

Most likely this loser was looking to be significant, just like the loser in Norway. They don’t want to die for the cause. They want to be important like Charlie Manson.

We should waive trial for these psychopaths and execute them without trial. These are more than open and shut cases and discouraging publicity will curb these killers.

What Tennessee license plate? He’s from California.

Murfreesboro, maybe?
