We’re in an economy where most parents (who have jobs) are forced to work at least two jobs many or those two shifts are 1st and 2nd shift.

Babysitters are raising our children. Mothers and fathers don’t know their children, and their age/rate of development, well enough to know better.

Feminism arrived, women went to work, and parents forgot how to raise children.

Its hard getting a babysitter who is willing to watch children so late at night..so for parents who want to see a midnight screening of a movie they figure the kids will sleep while they watch the movie

I can see your point about the content being inappropriate, but could see myself taking my kids out to a midnight movie when they were young. My kids always stayed up late when they were young and weren’t grouchy like most kids are late at night. We homeschooled them, too, so they could always sleep in after a late night. I have never understood people’s concerns about other people’s kids’ bedtimes. I wouldn’t judge them for that.

If they had not gone to the movies that night, the kid might have been killed while in bed, by a truck crashing into her house.

My Daughter asked WHY would anyone do this? She was refering to the killer. You are asking WHY would anyone take their young children to a midnight showing and this kind of movie. I will tell you like I told her.

There are no morals or respect for anything or anyone anymore. It is a ME! ME! ME! society. There was something the killer wanted and didn't get and the movie goers had to be at the FIRST showing regardless if they had young kids or not.

Not only to a midnight movie, but an obnoxiously violent, loud midnight movie. I am speechless at the horrific lack of parenting skills exhibited by some.

Children belong in bed at a decent hour besides.

lets not be too harsh.....when you're young, you can't afford a movie and a babysitter sometimes....I remember going to the drive in and being up very late....

the kids were expected to sleep....they probably thought it was a great treat....

I'll pass on criticizism for now...

Gee. I didn’t realize the country was so far gone that there was some set “bedtime” everyone must conform to.

For the wee one, 6mos, I can somewhat understand, especially if a breast feeding mother.

They can get ear infections, gas or whatever and not sleep very may regular consecutive hours at all— to feel comfortable leaving a sitter with a cranky baby.

The husband could work crazy hours or they live far away from family and aren’t comfortable leaving their baby with non-family.

Yes, the children come first but it is important for the parents to keep interest in each other and have some sort of adult time together.

Children need both parents and parents need personal attention and time together, too.

Both parents are crucial to raising that child and I think it is in the best interest of the child for parents to nurture their relationship together.

One day that child will leave the nest and the paresnts will again be back to each other, it is nicer if they are still together and not strangers.

I think some parents are somewhat sick in ignoring a partner just to make the child the center. There is a balance. Each parent and the child need the affection.

Maybe I am not with it but I didn’t think midnight was a high-traffic movie time.

Older kids, I have nothing for that.

In my opinion, the discussion of whether it’s appropriate to take young kids to a midnight movie, or to this violent Batman movie at all, should wait for another day. This horrific event is still too fresh in our minds. Let’s mourn the victims for now, and wait for another time to discuss this or get into the gun control debate.

If I were a parent, I wouldn’t necessarily be against taking my child to a midnight matinee.

Once in a blue moon sort of event, sure.

I have never understood taking children to these late movies. I have only been to one, and it was too much for these old bones. Taking a child to anything over 8pm is abuse, imho.

As far as kids going to late night events, there were a few times when I was a kid my dear old Dad would take us to Shea stadium to see the Mets in a Twi-night double header and not get home till 2-3 in the morning. I guess it was a completely different time back then but as long as the kids were with their parents it wasn’t considered a big deal. Years later, I remember going with a bunch of freinds to midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show on a couple of occasions(before I realized what a leftwing a**hole Susan Sarandon is). Some teenagers would show up and we’d all get a little crazy but nothing like what happened in Aurora.

when the movie version of The Phantom of the Opera came out, we took our 4- and 8-year old sons to the 10:30 p.m. showing on a weeknight... i homeschool and am with my kids all day, so i know them well... we all had such a wonderful time... it was a rare occasion... we had all seen the stage version previously... our boys were familiar with the music... every now and then we throw out our regular schedule for something special...

Maybe if the parents had left them in the car...the movie was only for 2 3/4hrs.

Please tell me in 25 words of less why it's any of your business why they do.

Our society has become desensitized to violence and death via movies/tv, video games, etc.

If you watch old movies, there is nothing comparable to what we are exposed to today. It is common on tv to see real autopsies and crime shows that offer gruesome closeups of realistic portrayals of death.

On 9-11 I remember seeing the plane flying into the second tower and both eventually collapsing. It did not appear real. It looked like a bad movie.

In Aurora, many of the audience members did not initially realize that the gunman was in fact there to slaughter them. They could not discern what was going on in front of them vs. on the screen.

We are exposed to so much, and it is especially detrimental to children. Instead of focusing on gun control after this tragedy, maybe it would be better to stop and think about just how far movies, tv, video games, etc., influence our society.

There is enough real violence in this world. Parents need to stop and realize that once their child is exposed, the innocence lost can never be replaced. Movie producers also have a responsibility to society. Yes, I realize that if you don't like something, don't go see it. But, in total, others being exposed to it also has an overall influence in our society.

We are all responsible for our own actions. However, people that run the entertainment industries should use some retrospect. They have a very heavy burden in what we leave to the next generation.

Welcome to The United States of Hollyweird.

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein will open up his Westport waterfront estate for a $35,800-per-head fundraiser for President Obama's re-election next month, reciprocation for the coveted State Dinner invite he received earlier this year from the White House.

You are self righteous idiot. Its not the parents fault the kid died. Do you have any critical thought processing skills? Btw - the movie was not very violent.
