If you read the report Curley met with the executive director and told him that someone saw Sandusky in the locker room shower with a boy and felt uncomfortable with situation and concluded that nothing inappropriate occurred.

Who concluded??? That was THE incident. Here from USA Today:

March 1, 2002: A graduate assistant (this week identified as current Penn State receivers coach Mike McQueary) sees a naked boy, “Victim 2,” whose age he estimates at 10, being sexually assaulted by a naked Sandusky. The graduate assistant tells his father immediately.

March 2, 2002: McQueary reports what he has seen to Joe Paterno.

March 3, 2002: Paterno calls Tim Curley, Penn State’s athletics director, to his home and reports a version of what the grad assistant had said.

March 2002: Later in the month the graduate assistant is called to a meeting with Curley and Gary Schultz, senior vice president for finance and business. The graduate assistant reports what he has seen, and Curley and Schultz say they will look into it.

About March 27, 2002: The graduate assistant hears from Curley. He is told Sandusky’s locker room keys are taken away and the incident has been reported to The Second Mile. The graduate assistant is never questioned by university police, and no other entity conducts an investigation until the graduate assistant testifies to the grand jury in December 2010.

The Second Mile was told. Curley, Schulz, Spanier were all told. What more was Paterno supposed to do???

You doth protest too much. Your dates are off by one year.

First off after the 2001 Sandusky engaged in improper conduct with at least two children in the Lash Building. Those assaults may well have been prevented if Spanier, Schultz, Paterno and Curley had taken additional actions to safequard children on Unicersity facilties.

Second at no time did any of these people inquire into the well being of the child. Paterno never did and I conclude that these people did not care.

In September of that same year Penn State sells a parcel of land to Second Mile and Schultz issues a press release lauding Sandusky.

What do I think Paterno should have done? He should have been a man and called the police and help them try to find the victim.

You raise a good question that is applicable to each one. What would you do or not do if you were in the situation? What would I do, or what would anyone else do. We don’t know for sure but we do have some info as to what Paterno did.

Apparently Paterno didn’t persue the matter further and never was concerned about any future events with other children. We don’t know his reasoning but it would have been nice to hear his explaination.
