The media will hype it for all it’s worth. If it does hit it will be #6 for me and I’m still here. Besides, a Cat 1 storm is just some breezy showers.

People usually rally around the President during disasters.

Excuse me?

Have you forgotten Katrina was Bush's Fault?

Not to worry. The Messiah will wave his Magic Negro arms, and the seas will recede and the winds will calm, and the media will give all praise to the Messiah.

Tampa has an invisible protective shield over it. Storms go up the peninsula (Donna in '62?) or out in the Gulf and hit Big Bend and points west Elena in '85).

The last time a storm hit just above the mouth of Tampa Bay on the Pinellas peninsula was 1848.

That was a bad one....everything south of Sulphur Springs was under water. Picture that the next time you ride on 275 from downtown to USF.

Hate to say it but we need it to come ashore and drag the length Florida.
If not and it gets out in the open Gulf and gets a chance to grow it will become a monster instead of just a nice little hurricane.

A few years ago we had the eye of three go over us in two years just west of Port St. Lucie.
all three in the 121 to 128 mph range.
Firsts one blew all the poorly done construction away and made a mess of the shrubs and trees.
Second one took out the rest fo the roofs that were built to poor codes.
Third one a year later and I don’t think I saw but two blue roofs.
As of today here we’re ready to go, get loaded up on beer, and make sure the generator is working and all the gas cans are full.
Not fun being without A/C for a week or two.

“People usually rally around the President during disasters.”

Having “rode out” several bad hurricanes, I can tell you that NOBODY in the storm path is rallying around the President. Stress, anger, & frustration are the rule for weeks after the storm. Nobody standing in a long line for water, ice, & MREs are praising the gov’t. Sitting on the remains of your porch, in pitch dark, sweltering heat, & swarms of mosquitoes, one is not inclined to be impressed by Presidential promises. It is near impossible to please thousands of people who have lost people, property, & whose lives are changed forever.

There are only 2 main things people need after a storm, running water & electricity in their home, if it still exists. There is very little a President can do to fix these things. Only the power & water companies can solve these problems & the fix takes time. But, the gov't can hinder the recovery with safety rules, work rules, & new building codes. Sound familiar?

Recall that GWB was roundly criticized for his handling of Katrina, though it is clear Nagin & that fool woman governor (?) hindered the rescue/recovery in NOLA.

If there is a bad hurricane landfall, do you truly believe that Obama will miraculously rise to the occasion & facilitate a brilliant rescue/recovery? Do you think he will rush to restore power for the Republican Convention? Please consider his track record before answering this.

Or, do you believe, as I do, that he will create an awful mess, risking lives & property for political considerations, & despite the MSM, will be loudly criticized? It could doom his reelection, especially in FL.

I have yet to hear of a President being congratulated for his response to a storm. Obama may get that from the MSM & the Left, but I doubt it will come from those in the storm track.

Whatever happens, political considerations will rule, & that usually means chaos for those in the storm track.

Storm? What storm? This thing right now is less than a weak sister. No definite center of circulation. Sat imagery is unimpressive. Mountains in Hispanola and Cuba will sink it.

Of course, Camille was pretty wimpy in about the same location in 1969.....Camille didn't hit the mountains.

Issac ain't much to behold unless it can get it together.

A Cat 1 hurricane, or less, will be considered “beneficial rain” for Georgia.

Obama will look like a fool trying to make something out of this.
