It looks plenty cool to me. A Garand is on my to-buy list for the New Year.
To: atomic_dog
I myself was close to purchsing one, but I couldn’t resist the AK 74 I got for less than $300.00 at the time.

The one plus of the AK 74 is my wife can shot it and carry it.

thanks for your opinion, T S. That thing sure is loud when you shoot it...its the one I killed a coon with... I tried to kill it with an old (either) 25 cal or 32 cal...the damn thing jammed. I had to take it to my girlfriend so her hubby could fix it...knowing not how to unjam a gun, I left it alone and used the Colt. Dad use to say about that small cal. gun, that if anyone ever found out you shot them with that gun, they'd get mad at you...He didn't think too much of it. :O) it was my father in laws gun that he gave to my hubby.

7.62 x 25 Russian for $200-250. I take it you mean Tokarev. Since the CZ-52s dried up your stuck with the Tokarev. I've heard they have problems with a manual safety (or lack thereof?). They are hardly moderate in power or range and would have serious problems with over penetration in an urban environment. The ammo is cheap and "ball" is generally available as milsurp or new and as most comblock weapons they will stand up to a lot of abuse without much complaint. But they can drill a hole straight through one side of the house and out the other and then continue on a ways.
Regards,
GtG
PS Given a choice I'd go with a CZ-52 if I could find one, the Czechs make wonderful firearms, the Russians not so much.

Indeed the Tokarev, originally had no safety.
The ones that have been added on are pretty shoddy.
The CZ 52 on the other hand is a delightful pistol even if the machining is pretty crude.
Neither are acceptable for home defense due to over penetration.

Mossberg 12 ga pump shotgun. Thus sayeth Mr. Trimom.
Mossberg 20 ga was our choice....wifey weighs under 90 pounds and a 12 was gonna knock her on her heinie.....
My interior handgun of choice remains a simple .22 revolver magnum hollow point load. No matter what the "heavies" will say here, that'll do the trick just fine, let alone save a bit on drywall repair.

Well, yes. Rifle - NATO.
There seems to be an abundance of .40 too.
I made two distinct posts. One for the cheap helmet crowd, one for the Leopold crowd. We’re on the same plane here.
Stay safe.

That weapon sprays powder as it ejects the spent brass case. Left handed shooters will get that spray. I didn’t like it. Otherwise, its a nice gun.

You forgot another factor to consider:
6) Shovel and suitable plot of land to plant said home invaders.

Not to encourage other nutjobs, but my take on that AR jamming is:
1-he bought a new AR
2- He didn’t clean it after he bought it and clean it before he used it
3- He didn’t break it in.
4- He didn’t learn how to clear stoppages fast.

I think that is what I have. My mind is like a sieve today. It was made about 56 and with as hard as the trigger pulls it does not need a safety.

If it’s nice and warm out, just pop them in a nice, mostly sealed plastic tub full of water, with 20-30lbs of soda ash from a pool supply store. Give that a week, then with clothespin on nose pour down drain. After rinsing off the clean bones, immerse them in the empty soda ash bucket full of hydrochloric acid toilet bowl cleaner. Give it another week and you are done. Be sure to dispose of any tooth fillings.
