I was writing on Facebook with a friend who actually sparked this thread. In one response, I wrote:
But those, while somewhat effective, are not nearly as effective as a return to God's grace.
I agree with you about the [the need of the GOP to embrace God and Christianity more]. However, here's the current lay of the land: We who embrace God are now the minority and those who embrace pleasure and wanton sex and self-seeking and glorification of the self, are the majority.
So, should Republicans embrace a Godly message, they'd be 'laughed out of church'. This cannot be a top down effort. This has to be bottom-up.
That means ALL the responsibility is OURS. For example, today you made a large difference in my life. You enrolled me to your cause. Keep speaking the truth, and you will gain more warriors. I will do the same. IT IS UP TO US.
Following your spiritual journey here is remarkable.
You have our attention.

Excellent reasoning, Laz.

Agreed..
Now, the name and exact phrase escapes me at the moment, so please take this one in spirit..
“This constitution is for a moral and just people, It will work for no other”..
Conservatives and Liberals take this phrase to mean that the fed must regulate morality, that it must protect the people from themselves.
The truth is quite the opposite.
True spiritual morality cannot be changed in a person.
Politically motivated morality is subjective. It is subjective to whoever holds power at that particular time. The framers recognized this, and that is why morality is not in the constitution. Civil rights are.
Once this premise is accepted, then and only then can change begin.
Where does it begin? The easier question to ask is where does it NOT begin.
It does NOT begin in the halls of congress, or at the presidents desk.
It DOES begin in your own heart first, then in your own home. It then progresses to your extended family, then to your friend and aquantances.
When, not if but when, you run into the person or peoples that place all their trust in politics, that is when you ask them to apply the constitution test.
You do not need to argue, or debate, or go point for point with them. Just ask them to apply the constitution test.
This alone will plant the first seeds of doubt.
