Hudson County is predicting a big win for President Obama in tonight's presidential debate with Mitt Romney.

Out of 302 people who participated in The Jersey Journal/Hudson County Now poll , 169 votes (56 percent) said Obama would win and 133 votes (44 percent) preidcted a win by the GOP presidential hopeful.

In Journal Square, today voters were asked who they thought would win the first debate and the answers followed suit with the poll: Obama would win.

Out of four people interviewed, three said that Obama would win the first in the series of debates, and only one person sided with Romney.

"I think Obama will win only because I think he'll be more prepared," said Nelson Mantilla, a Jersey City resident

I think Nelson Mantilla is ignorant on this subject.

Grew up there. Hudson County has been part of the Democratic machine since before Mayor Gangemi back to Mayor Hague. A republican doesn’t stand a chance.

Jimmuh did not win NJ in 1980....

I think the point being made was that if Big Media is reporting 44 for NJ, they are underreporting, and it’s probably a high number.

All Hussein has is a lockstep Nazi-loving leftist freak Big Media.

Can we beat the anti-American racist Hussein Head media?

I read somewhere that Romney was known to be fairly brilliant at absorbing data and then applying solutions - this was from his early career.

Well-prepared lies will still come across as lies that Romney can highlight.

"Out of four people interviewed"

Wow! That's a big sample. What's the confidence level of a sample of 4? Somewhere around 1%?

Don’t know about all of Hudson Co. in ‘80 but I can tell you West Hudson Co. where I was from went for Jimmuh. I voted for him. (yes, I was a lib once). The media is going to be a factor for sure. Not sure if it can be beat.

“And we care what a bunch of Snookie-tards in Joisey think because....”

Because we’re not all like that. I live and work in Hudson County, and I posted this a few days ago. I was at a very big street festival in my town this past weekend, and there were two booths set up several blocks apart.

One was proudly displayed as a ROMNEY/RYAN booth. The other was displayed in much smaller letters as a democratic booth, with NO MENTION of Obama anywhere in site. The Romney/Ryan booth was being run by some of the nicest people I have ever met. The dems’ booth was being run by a guy who honestly looked like he may have been homeless.

There were several thousand people at this festival throughout the day (I stayed for almost the entire event), and I did not see anyone go anywhere near the dems’ booth. The Romney/Ryan booth had many people stopping by all day. The volunteers told me they were completely overwhelmed with the response and they had to call up some extra people to help them out. I would have helped myself if I were trained to do so, and that’s something we’re going to work on now. They had exactly ONE person stop by all day to “heckle” them, and that person could only come up with “You’re gonna lose” as they kept wakling. Everyone else was completely positive.

There are a lot more people around here on the right side of things than you think. Some of us have been here all along, but a lot of new people are getting on board because they know they have been sold a bunch of nonsense. I came away from this thinking we still have a ton of work to do in NJ, but I am now confident that we’re going to get all of the help we need in the swing states.
