Love your additions, especially Tull.

The undiscerning fool, who chose what he considers “riffs”,likes them loud, stupid, and containing as few notes as possible. Do go to Youtube and press the thumbs down botton. Umbarassing!

Good to Great and notable but the hook is too simple/slow to be the "Best".

I would have put “Free Ride” in there too, maybe even number 1.

Sometimes simple is good.

However I would rather experience more depth:

Ian Anderson with the London Symphony “Locomotive Breath”

No Frigid Pink’s “House Of The Rising Sun”,

Wow!
Thought I was the only person left that believed that was the best version.
The heavily clipped/distorted amp on the guitar was awesome and ahead of its' time.

Though one of the greatest Stones songs ever the Intro is too slow and needs the vocals and drums to form the rhythm. Not what what I consider a guitar riff. Back up singer Merry Clayton made that song great.

BIB is a good album but much as I like Brian, [more so when he sang for Geordie] he’s no Bon Scott.

Not sure what qualifies as a "riff", but how do you compete with this:

I agree, but it wouldn’t make for a short top 30.

FP’s version is The One to which all others must be compared.

My second favorite version features, of all people, Brian Johnson, currently of AC/DC fame.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPab0qMd-V4

If the singer doesn’t sound like they’ve *lived it*, I don’t wanna hear them.

[The Animals/Eric Burdon looked like they were sleep walking through the song]
