For about 25 years the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese has batted at the #4 slot on McDonald's menu. My boy and I hit the drive through tonight because Mom wasn't in the car..... we were both ready for two Super Size #4's and then my world had changed. The Double QP was in the #3 slot! When and why did this happen? You Nannies and Busybodies with dietary suggestions can move on. This chat is for people who like to eat where, what and when they want who are well schooled in the menu of a great American institution.
Ever try one of those $5 ‘no wait’ pizzas, I can ‘t remember the name. But I was driving home smelling that delicious sausage pizza, and its cardboard box. So I got home, took a big bite and tossed the pizza and ate the box.
My favorite was always the Mc D.L.T. Wish they would bring that bad boy back! I loved it!
Culvers Butter Burgers are nice for fast food.
Oh, I've had the "food" alright, Many, many times over the years. My opinion of their "food" is well based on my experience trying it. If I were to rate their food on a scale of 1-10 the best they have ever been is a 3, while they have consistently come in at barely 1.
I'm not knocking you for liking McDonald's, I'm just giving my honest opinion, and I'm pretty sure that's still allowed on this forum.
So have I. But sometimes the allure of grease mixed with MSG is too much . . . guess it’s all down to individual taste.
Then again, when I see documentaries describing how McDonald’s started out with all-fresh ingredients versus all-frozen, the matter of slipping standards does make me shake my head.

but I can occasionally enjoy a Big Mac
or a sack of Krystals
there are worse things....like the potted meat or the off brand chunk light tuna my mom bought when we were not yet in the chips
best fast food overall is Popeye's Fried Chicken Spicy...the go to place for fried chicken to take home
we don't have In and Out but we just got Culver's..a yankee institution and not too shabby...tween them and Chick Fil'A a country boy can survive in metro Nashville
Red Robin, Five Guys, Cheeseburger Charlies and so forth are not fast food...they are a genre up
That's the thing. In-N-Out restaurants are all company owned. There are no franchise stores. Your closest would probably be in the DFW area......just in case you get the urge. :)
When I left Fun City for rural WV, I knew I’d miss the pizza....bagels.....cheesecake.......egg creams.....pastrami on rye.
But the one thing I didn’t plan on missing was a good greasy-spoon Cheesburger DeLux.

The cardboard does taste better.
We have a chain called $5 pizza. Much better. But nothing can beat a 20 dollar 5 pound stuffed pizza from our local Frankie’s Chicago style pizza.
I LOVE Chick Fil’A sandwiches! I haven’t even been able to try all the sauces because I like the original sauce so much.

After typing my little tour down memory lane in Post#29, I remembered what I had for dinner this evening....Big Mac & fries.LOL!
Can't argue with that. On the other hand it just satisfy a certain craving. I worked fast food in high school (ages ago, the restaurant was "Sandys") but I remember reading a trade magazine in the manager's office that summed it all up. Fast food is a "filling station" for food. That's all. And like a bad movie with great explosions and special effects, I just sit back and enjoy the ride. No need to make it out to be more than it is.
Any Whattaburger(sp?) fans out there?
Used to date a gal from OK who wistfully talked about how good they were whilst she was growing up. We eventually made a trip home to meet her mom and found out she wasn’t kidding-they are GOOD!
We didn’t work out but I still remember the 3 times we managed to eat there. I just wish they’d move farther east than Arkansas!
I used to make these for myself back in the day when I worked at mickey d’s. people thought I was crazy.
Who knew that one day it would be a menu item !
If your in the Portland/Vancouver area I suggest Killer Burger, best I have had and their Signature PBPB (Peanut Butter Pickle Bacon) Burger sounds weird, but it is epic. Best of all, every Burger comes with Bacon!
I never eat at McDonalds only because I get so ill afterwards. Used to but can’t anymore. I looooved the Big Mac. Besides, we have a “Cook Out” drive thru now and there is no way you can beat that burger.
I used to live in Austin, TX and loved “Whataburger”!
I would...but Hardee’s doesn’t exist up here in Washington. Carl’s Jr. is the northern cousin to Hardee’s, but nothing like the Monster Thickburger is on their menu.
Perhaps...one day....
