A thought on the VP debate.
Vanity

I just posted this on Facebook:

If the goal of a debate is to allow the debaters to equally present opposing arguments so that the audience can decide; then by that standard this was NOT a debate. Ryan wasn't allowed to present his side by either Biden or the so called moderator. He was taunted and interrupted by Biden. Anything to knock Ryan off his stride and stymie him from presenting a clear case for his beliefs. And the moderator wasn't much better; she clearly was one-sided and biased. Botton line: there was a lot of heat generated during the debate but not much light. But anyone who has even a modicum of common decency had to be turned off by Biden's antics. Just for what it's worth.

This debate is like a slow and corrosive acid. Over time, it will eat away at the reputation of the Democrats. If this had been a high school debate, each side would have been given time to speak without interruption, and the moderator would have been very careful to treat each side equally. If one side had interrupted and ridiculed the other side, the rude side would have been corrected. If the rude side didn’t improve the debate would have been terminated and the polite side given the win.
It makes me cringe to think that at the highest levels some of our politicians will not or cannot behave at the level of a high school student.
Biden was a bully in the debate, and the moderator allowed it, shame on him and shame on her. The Democrats have devolved to the rude bullies party. They have nothing to sell but failed policies and the destruction of our country.
This rude bully behavior is not confined to Joe Biden. I saw part of a Texas senatorial debate earlier this month. The Texas candidate was rude and crude like Joe Biden. Ted Cruz like Paul Ryan was calm and clear on the facts when he could get a word in.
I feel that this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I have one question. How long will we permit this to go on?

I like what you said “that over time it will eat away at the reputation of the Democrats.” Dems may get a quick sugar high from such behavior but I think the impressions that will last are that Ryan can be clear, calm, and collected under pressure and that Biden is nothing more that a high-class (or low-class, take your pick) bully.

Why are you talking about the debate as though Ryan lost?

I didn’t realize I was doing that but I guess it came across that way. I definately don’t think that Biden won. My point that it wasn’t a real debate if you judge it by those standards. I think that time will tell the story: Ryan, cool, calm and collected. Biden, a blowhard.

It also lowers the "decorum bar" for when Zero debates Romney this week. Now Zero can be a little ruder and a little bit more of an asshole, but still look better than Biden did.

I think Biden's actions were planned with this in mind.

He [Ryan] was taunted and interrupted by Biden. Anything to knock Ryan off his stride and stymie him from presenting a clear case for his beliefs.

Biden employed these tactics because he knew if he stuck to the rules he would have lost worst then Hussein did.

Thursday's congressional hearings brought out that the State Department saw everything in Lybia transpire in real time by satellite. There was no riot, no demonstration and no 'spontaneity'. Now Obama, Biden, Hillary, Rice, Carney and all the dnc media minions have lied to the public.

How much longer can this charade play on?

Ryan didn’t lose the debate, because as explained above, there was no debate. He won the competition by keeping his cool under extreme pressure. I think if there had been a debate, he would have won it as well.

It was disappointing to me because I believed some viewers would be seeing Ryan for the first time, & I think he is brilliant & had hoped those first-time viewers would, some of them at least, be as impressed as I have been by him, in the same way Mitt was so impressive to so many last week (including me - I’ve never liked him much).

His restraint was very impressive, but I wish he’d’ve been able to speak for longer without interruptions. I would not be surprised if the entire Slow Joe performance was intended to prevent/derail just that.
