Not sure how to characterize this, or where it belongs, but there's considerable scuttlebutt this morning over a new (and maybe scurrilous) website predicting a major October Surprise this weekend, Sunday evening, just before the next debate on Monday.
This deserves FReeper attention and discussion.

You’re right, but it was Romney’s returns that were electronically burglarized - not Obama’s.
Whoever obtained them are either criminals or abetted them. My guess is nothing comes of this no matter what is claimed, simply because the source is really low. Much lower than we’re used to when it comes to political dirty tricks. Anonymous thieves.
If they faked stuff to hurt Bush43, they can certainly try it again.

The Dems seemed really focused on this tax thing. No one has shown that Mitt has done anything illegal, or morally wrong. In fact, through his tax returns he has documented his moral side. And because he doesn’t beat his chest about it, the dems think he is doing something illicit.
If it is an October surprise against Obama the media will hide it and it will be another wash.
Now if it is an October surprise against Obama coming from the Clintons then it might work.

If 6 pages, would that be large enough to be a significant tax return? It would certainly be a reasonable size for a college application...

There are 5 documents, one has 2 pages for a total of 6 pages.

I suppose. The thing is, if it’s Romney’s stolen returns, these guys are going to be arrested. It does seem more likely that they’d do all this PR and fanfare for something that won’t get them charged with a crime.
