This is pretty amazing. Watch Central Valley High School’s Austin Rehkow makes a 67-yard field goal with two seconds left on the clock to send the game to overtime:

Austin’s team would go on to win the game in overtime.

If you need a little perspective on just how amazing that kick was, the NFL record for longest field goal is 63 yards.

The NFL teams have probably already called him. He’s probably already has a sports agent. This was truly spectacular.

As a loyal Lion fan I can say we ALL remember Dempsey's incredible kick. A real stunner. And with one arm and half a foot. Stunning.

Just remember very few High Schools have 6'6” Defensive linemen with a 48” vertical leap like the NFL does.

And with one arm and half a foot.

I understand they changed the shoe rule for orthopedic shoes in kickers after that,
but it was still amazing!

When it is my "time" I want this guy to kick my bucket for me.

It will take St. Peter a few extra days to find it.

I remember watching that live. All Alex Karras (Rest his soul) could do was put his hands on his hips (after the kick).

He looks like an old time kicker, straight to the ball, and not the modern soccer style where the kicker is off to the side. -tom

I’d drug test him before putting him in the records.

Just sayin’ . . .

Another interesting thing lost in all the hoopla: The opposing quarterback from Shadle Park High School in Spokane, Wash. threw for 577 yards and broke the state record for passing yards in a game and the league record for passing yards in a single season. Brett Rypien is the nephew of NFL quarterback/Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien, also a Shadle Park alum and is only a SOPHOMORE.

Yes. Didn’t the officials believe that the flat front end of the boot helped him?

Ah! I well remember Lou Groza, and the rumor that he had a brick in the toe of his kickin’ shoe!
