Not that too many people care, but I am now at a friends using her computer. We lost EVERYTHING Monday @ 3;30 pm. My friend Caren and her lovely husband were the smart ones who learned from that last storm to get a generatorm
My area looks like a warzone, just as I'm sure eveyone else's does. Trees uprooted, wires down (I keep ducking, don't know why).
We were outside yesterday w/ the chainsaw (we were trapped in from the downed trees). Once we removed ours, we went to our neighbors to clear their trees and our street.
This is my first contact w/ the outside world...sorry if I sound dramatic but at least I am not crying anymore. Just hope my fellow FReepers are okay and hanging in there.
Looks like we won't have anything for a couple to a few weeks.
Prayers needed please. There are wires down all over the place....Lord help us when the lines are turned on.
God Speed and God Bless!!
I'm on the North Shore of Long Island, Suffolk County. It really really sucks here.
Thoughts and prayers with you! Stay busy and make progress each day. Will stop depression from setting in. Been through it all before.
God bless your efforts. Thankful you weren’t injured or killed. Faith, family, friends. That’s what’s important.
I hope help gets to you soon and thank god you’re safe! Is there anything we can do to help?
Praying for you!
Courage! Everything is going to be ok. You can recover from this, devastating as it is. God is with you.
I’m happy you are here Gray and I’m sorry for what you are going through. You have friends here who care. Try to keep your chin up and thanks for the update!
Happy you are safe, stay that way. Everything else can be fixed. I imagine it’s quite the disaster. If nothing else, I’ll pray for you and your family.
I care and I’m very glad to hear it! My thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone up your way facing the aftermath of this storm. I’ve been where you are and I know it’s not any fun, but believe me...this too shall pass.
Family, friends, neighbors, insurance and local government will help take care of the rest. Prayers for all affected like yourself.
First of all, I am very glad that you are still alive. Sorry to hear that you lost everything. I’ll pray for you.
Thank God you’re okay. You all are in our prayers!
I’m hoping in this context “We lost EVERYTHING” means “we lost power and phone” and not “our home has been completely destroyed” (like those poor people in Queens and the Jersey shore).
Glad to hear you are safe.
Prayers for you and your family and for a speedy return to normal life. It’s very good that you are able to help your neighbors.
It’s a heartbreaking event, but with faith, family and friends hopefully the load will be bearable.
Good luck.
Of course, we care. Good to see you posting.
You are safe and that’s the important thing. Your home and possessions can be replaced. Your life cannot.
Prayers up for you and all who are recovering.
i feel for ya. My sister had a 100-year-old sycamore land on her house.
Cannot imagine whatvyou are going through, but know that Our Lord is so good and will not allow us to suffer more than we are able. Things can be replaced, the love of God is with you and friends are praying. You are ( as we all are) very blessed. I know you have a long rough road ahead of you so please let me know what I can do other than pray.
From near me in Southern California
SCE is sending 12 four-person crews and support personnel, totaling about 90 people. In addition, SCE will be sending 36 contract tree trimmers and 36 contract electrical workers to assist in restoration efforts.
I care and I bet everybody else here does, too!
I’m glad at least you are safe. It sounds callous to say that “stuff” can be replaced, but it can be and sometimes a disruptive event like this actually leads you to something better. I don’t mean to sound like Pollyanna - I’m just speaking from my own personal experience with loss. It sure is hard when you’re going through it, though.
I’ll be sure to keep you in my prayers. I wish we could do something more concrete for you, as well. But God bless, and please know that we definitely do care!
I know what you are going through, the first two weeks are the toughest. There is a surreal feeling to all of it. Things do get better, get together with neighbors, and figure out what you are going to do about security and that sort of thing. Events like this can bring communities together. Good luck!
