This is the vivid and recurring nightmare that I've been having for the last few days.

I have concerns too, and am struck by your last sentence.

I think what has been awaited for almost two millennia is soon coming to pass.

I work to keep myself and my family prepared, spiritually, for whatever happens.

Sleep well - there are American Special Forces all over North Africa.

Obama has four more years. Maybe.

Europe will eventually wake up. They already are.

Muslims will start to kill muslims more than ever.

When adults were in charge:

"The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us.
Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this island
or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be freed
and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands.

But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States,
including all that we have known and cared for,
will sink into the abyss of a new dark age made more sinister,
and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves,
that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth
last for a thousand years, men will still say,
'This was their finest hour.'"

- Sir Winston Churchill

The historical analogy is inept. Make northern Africa Germany, and Israel Csechoslovakia-- a defensible land with a good Army, betrayed and backstabbed by the degenerate "western democracies."

You give Obama far too much credit. Chamberlain was, as well as trying to prevent the war, was trying to delay it to give England time to rearm. He was sincerely trying to defend England's interests. When his appeasement attempt failed, he meant to have Hitler's blood or die in the attempt.

Obama is not trying to defend US interests. He is actively promoting the interests of the Salafists.

My first thought on Wednesday morning after checking the election results was, “watch the Middle East.”

Is America too far gone to throw out Obama

Umm, this ship has sailed. Obama was just re-elected and will serve out his 2nd term.

Also, much as I agree they are human filth, the Islamists in North Africa just aren't nearly as strong as you seem to be imagining them to be. They are mostly a bunch of religious rabble with only a small core that is really organized and in any way a threat. North African Islamists aren't going to be a significant military threat to Israel or Europe anytime soon.

Your nightmare is not a replay of the run up to WWII, but a replay (in exactly the same location) of the beginning of the Dark Ages in the mid-seventh century. (At least it is for those of us who subscribe to the Pirenne thesis that the rise of Islam, not the Germanic invasions caused the Dark Ages.)

If knowledge of that understanding of the history of late antiquity is not the source of your bad dreams, you need to read Pirenne's original 1938 Mohammed and Charlemagne (available in a reprint of the 1951 English translation in a very affordable Dover paperback edition) and Emmett Scott's 2012 Mohammed and Charlemage Revisited. (As should all FReepers concerned with the resurgence of Islam.)

The Anglosphere saved the world during the last Century. Do we still have an equivalent?

if you're talking about WWI and WWII -- the Russians paid more in blood and were the ones who broke the backs of the Nazis at Stalingrad
