Petition started asking Obama to allow Texas to secede from the Union
White House Petitions site ^

"The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government."

If MO and KY go, I’ll personally lead the effort to bring IL south of I-80.

OK, maybe that might work for on-the-ground defense up to a point. But without sufficient counter attack, how do you deal with superior naval, air, and missile capabilities capable of scorching Texas? What about things like nuclear deterrents.

As evidenced by the former Czechoslovakia, there’s nothing wrong with it at all. All it takes is the will of the people to exercise self-determination. I have to believe a large portion of the rats would be more than willing to separate amicably. There is mutual animosity that will never be healed and both sides know it, so why not split before something terrible happens? Unless we’re all just going to bend over and accept the strangling embrace of socialism. It absolutely does not require bloodshed.

It’s sounds as if you are assuming that the military en masse would descend upon Texas. I feel quite certain that there would be insurrection among the troops and many would side with Texas (because it is their home state or because their sympathies lie with the cause of freedom) and much of the fighting would end up being “in house” between factions in the branches of the military.

I can’t picture the Liberal fighting

If there was really chance Texas and/or any other state would secede, the economy & the dollar would collapse so fast (much faster than they already going to do anyhow) that the remaining US couldn’t do anything

Once those 1st of the month checks aren’t worth the gas it takes to drive to the bank to cash them, Liberals will first turn on each other. City after city will go “Katrina”.

Texas seceding from the GOP would be a good start, we give them 38 EVs each election and we’re treated like dirt by the National GOP.

And Idaho, Montana and Wyoming too. We have the makings of a fine country in all of the states mentioned. Not sure about My state of Colorado though. Getting pretty blue lately.

Here would be my ideas of some things that should be in place:
1) No statewide government welfare of any kind provided. Would be a disincentive for lazy liberals or illegals to move here. With very low taxes and a great business environment, and a strong base of Christians, the poor could be helped in a way that is on a smaller, more personal scale and that holds them accountable to quickly get back to work.Should be mostly church or private charity based. Individual cities or counties could come up with their own systems (work fare or something) if they wish, but there would be no statewide “program” of benefits . This would allow different cities to try different things but not burden the rest of the state if their ideas are impractical or if they run up debt. They would have to bear the consequences of their local decisions, no bailouts from the state level.

2)Dismantle public education in favor of vouchers, charter schools, etc.Clean out the university system and all teacher training colleges. (You really don’t need teacher training colleges for elementary and middle school - if students are taught very well and are self governed themselves, they should be capable of teaching younger kids basic math, English, etc by the time they are 19. See Laura Ingalls Wilder books) Think through ways of promoting higher education but eliminating the socialist indoctrination going on. If not, the infection of those ideas continues.
Mandatory courses on constitutional government and historical foundations of government should be required.

3) I agree with the previous poster who said there needs to be some requirements on the right to vote. Either proof that you worked or own a business, or possibly if you take any locally provided welfare you are not allowed to vote for 5 years, something like that. Also strict voter registration, voter ID required, stiff penalties for vote fraud, etc.

You deal with the air power, with Stinger missles. It worked for Afghanistan. Call it "Operation Charlie Wilson".

You deal with naval power by retreating from the coast til they get tired of shelling you. If they land a ground force, every man has an AK47 and knows how to make IEDs, remember? It'll be Iraq to the 12th power. If they try a naval blockade, cut a deal with the Columbian traffickers (who are using Soviet subs to transport coke), to break the embargo.

As for missiles and nukes.... Short term, you publish the names, photos, and home addresses of every person in the decision chain, and let ALL your citizens know. If the button is pushed, the elites who pushed it will have to live in bullet proof bubbles for the rest of their lives, because, to quote Dune: "One day, one of us will get you!"

Long term, develop your own damn missles, nukes, and star-wars defense. All the frustrated scientist of the US will join you. "Houston, we do NOT have a problem!"

Scotland is considering this over in the old country....why not here?

I envision the other red states would follow quickly along with the red areas of the blue states.

it could happen.

“Of course, I don’t realistically think that Texas will actually secede,...”

Why? Buncha guys in white wigs with British accents didn’t think it was impossible way back when. King Oba- er, excuse me, King George didn’t like the idea, but that did not stop them, thank God.

Wasn’t there some Russian who predicted the US would break up into several countries-——a few years ago. I think he said 2012 or later.

What do those Communists working for One World Government know????

There is a solution, it is basically to return to the model the founders used. The left has been subverting our laws for a long time to get us to this point.

Simply put, we have handed the future of the country to people with no ability to see beyond their own belly. Voting should never be as universal as we have made it. If you are not employed, don't own anything, don't pay taxes and are on the dole, you have no skin in the game. All you can do is take, never produce. As we are seeing, it is suicidal to allow people like that to vote.

Ultimately there are two options: Join the party or leave it. The default choice is to join the party. If you do nothing that is your choice.

Joining the party is not going to be viable for anyone for very long. Europe has only been able to maintain it for so long because we were financing it. With Reid looking for another 2.4 trillion in an unimaginably short amount of time we aren't even going to be able to afford it here much longer. In fact, I am starting to come to the conclusion that they want something a lot worse than a permanent welfare state. I have to wonder if the fate of Greece is exactly what they want. Why, I can't fathom.
