Schieffer: NRA the lobby most feared by Congress
CBSthis morning ^

Posted on 12/15/2012 2:16:15 PM PST by RC one

"We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics," Mr. Obama said.

CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer has been following the gun control debate since the assassination of President Kennedy. He said he takes the president at his word, but he's very skeptical about what will be possible, given the power of the most prominent gun lobbying group, the National Rifle Association.

"This is going to be a very, very difficult thing to do," he said. "Congress is literally afraid to take on the National Rifle Association because they know that if they make any kind of statement [that] even suggests some sort of limits on gun control, the NRA is going to pour, literally, hundreds of thousands of dollars in a campaign to defeat them."

Schieffer, who also hosts "Face the Nation," said Republicans and Democrats are so reluctant to talk about the issue that he's had trouble booking them on his Sunday morning news show.

"We talk about the lobby in Washington, AARP, which represents [people] on Social Security, as a very powerful lobby; you have the various energy lobbies; you've seen all kind of lobbies spring up not to raise taxes.

"I think the National Rifle Association is more feared than any of those associations," Schieffer said.

Sorry Bobby. Once again, you’ve got it all wrong. The union lobby is the most FEARED by Congress. Without those union bucks, most ‘RAT politicians would be wearing paper hats and flippin’ burgers.

It’s time to deflect this onto violent entertainment media—like Tarantino and bloody video games.

Well Bob, ever think that might because they represent a point of view held by over a hundred million people?

Without question violent video games contribute to this culture of violence. They desensitize to the actual death of another living being

take meaningful action

How about calling the nation to a time of prayer and fasting, seeking God's face. Only problem is that its likely to unravel his whole agenda.

The mainstream media causes these shootings.

These idiots or psychos do it for the fame the media will give them.

The media makes these shooters household names.

Even if an idiot doesn't do it for the fame and attention , the idiot does it because it saw it on TV or somewhere in the media and knows learned how to to it by watching the endless coverage. Advertisers know that repetition and just exposing someone to an idea or suggestion will get them thinking about it. the media know this and are purposefully doing it to cause more shootings. the media are programming these psycho shooters.

Then the evil media uses the killings they created , the victim’s blood to further empower government , to take away our individual rights and freedoms as is their goal. The media do it on purpose as they know other idiots see the massive coverage of the shootings and will copy. The media are pure evil.

Let’s not give this idiot the attention he sought. Let’s not give the media want the media want, but instead turn it on the media and expose them for what they are doing. The media are democrats/socialists and they want to enslave us.

"take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics"

So far we have the following for the Political Class to do:

Quit giving kids all sorts of mind altering drugs.

Institutionalize crazy peeps

Get Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives off of TV and out of the movies.

Stop sales of FPS video games

Train and Arm Teachers

Get rid of most "gun free" zones.

Disarm (emotional thinking) 0bama supporters/voters.

Promote school choice including Home Schooling.

*****

Get on it Bob.

The libs may want to spend the weekend debating gun control, but BELIEVE ME, the Democrat leaders want NOTHING to do with it. They want the House back in 2014 and the last way they can hope to get it is through gun control...AND THEY KNOW IT.

This is going to be fun to watch.

I’m not prepared to give up an ounce of personal liberty over the actions of a psychopath. not even a score of psychopaths.

I truly believe many of these games and movies are actively pernicious, as pernicious as pornography. They are particularly bad for teenage boys and young men in their early twenties.

But, frankly, I think video games make an excellent and convenient scapegoat to derail leftwing anti-gun hysteria.

And it's a no-brainer. As soon as the media gets wind that their allies (and make no mistake, game producers are active Obama supporters) are threatened by a prevailing sentiment, that will get them off the trail of trying to confiscate our means of personal defense.

Game producers are Hollywood, folks!

Foxx talking about how fun it is to play a guy who kills lots of white people, just a few days ago. And listen to the audience howl approvingly.

This all should be blamed on Hollywood.

“”We’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics,” Mr. Obama said....

With liberals (er, now “progressives”), every aspect of life is about “politics”. If politics are really to be “regardless”, then facts must be given their rightful place. What law failed to protect these children? The law the prohibits murder? Check. The law that makes schools a gun-free zone? Check. Is there some flaw in these laws? No. But these facts are inconvenient to those who cannot be honest with their full agenda.
