I registered as an Independent back in 2007 and have thought it was the right move ever since.

Ditto that. If nothing else, it cut down on the enormous volume of junkmail that I get in election years.

“Talk to the person I laid off. I’m not hearing your zampolit crap.”

Committees of any party being called “central committees,” or any other name, did not make you lay off your employee.

The lousy economy no doubt did, and I do hold those in charge for their anti-capitalist laws.

Mostly, I hold the American people for a)electing a majority of them and b) tolerating it.

I don’t know what “zampolit crap’ is, but whatever it is, I am not serving it, and insulting your fellow FReeper is not going to get our economy back.

We, conservatives suddenly realize we are in exile. We don’t have a country and we don’t have leaders that speak for us. Our ideals such as marriage, abortion, less government, 2nd amendment have become ancient fossils. Sadly, the POTUS wastes no time or words in showing his hate and contempt for us, but takes our money. Right now, we are rudderless and I am afraid it isn’t going to be fixed.

There is not the slightest doubt but that the republicans will cave if they start out by opposing the lifting of the debt ceiling and/or opposing the removal of the so-called “sequestration”. By initially opposing then shifting and supporting democrat maneuvers, it is not only disgraceful but suicidal to the republican party in the eyes of the electorate both leftist and conservatives. But unfortunately that is the modus operandi of this totally dysfunctional party that I am ashamed to admit I used to support.

With respect to the economic measures this administration wishes to pursue tell the American people, elections have consequences and they will abstain from voting for or against the wishes of the American voter and their elected leader. Tell the U S public that since they voted for Marxist Keynesian programs, the GOP will not stand in the way. If and when the populace come to its senses we will lead again until then just remind the people it will fail but this is what they wanted and this is what they will get.

I would respectfully submit that it could be wiser to stay in and try to fix it from inside.

The problem is that there is a large RINO faction within the GOP whose entire political identity is centered upon their ability to "work with" Democrats. It will not be possible to take back the country without openly denouncing leftist policies and their continuing advocates, but if conservatives were successful in doing so, the RINOs would lose their raîson d'être; indeed, conservatives' success would hurt the RINOs far more than it hurts the Democrats (who can rely on a large base of unconditional support). Consequently, until the RINOs are eliminated, they will do everything possible to undermine conservatives.

If there were some way to eliminate the RINOs without destroying the non-infested parts of the GOP, that would be great, but I doubt the RINOs would allow it; even if we could destroy the RINOs with well-targeted attacks, I would expect the RINOs to take down the rest of the party with them.

Historically, third parties have seldom risen up enough to bump out one of the first two, but it has happened in the past. The present situation is not stable, and something big is going to happen; the only question is what.
