You could put the PDA in a drawer and let it stew for a week!

If I hadn’t done the girl’s hair brown, I could have made her dark-skinned, which is easier to color than a white-people shade that doesn’t look crazy. Maybe if I go really light with “Desert Sand,” it would work.

The Speedway here is “GI-NORMOUS!” 12 tracks, medical facilities, permanent police station, private well, food processor that is larger than the biggest the US Gommint has, open 24/7, lots of motor museums and specialty car shops, and if you ever come here, make it a point to visit The Speedway at Las Vegas.

The Speed Shop/Museum alone is worth the visit.

I spend most of my time at “The Strip at Las Vegas,” which is the drag strip, but back in the day, “Viva Las Vegas” was filmed at the then “race track.” Elvis was driving a Shelby car, and to my knowledge, Barrett-Jackson is now the owner of said car.

The tour takes about an hour, but it covers all the tracks.

You could make the girl coffee-brown...and put gold high-lights in her hair. I’m sure she won’t mind.

Remember that shading can render an otherwise “blah” coloring page into something spectacular. Experiment. You can always print out another page.

That reminds me, I was thinking of trying to arrange a trip to the Speedway for the Cub Scouts, and also (or interchangeably) a visit to the auto-tech center at Central Piedmont. (Not as fancy, but closer to home.)

I was asked today about playing for a Quinceanera next month. The mother looked a little dubious when I said $20 each for my three Mexican vocalists and Elen, but anyway, when I checked my calendar, DP and Bill are running a half-marathon that day, and I’m planning to take the rest of the family to the Herpetology Show at Davidson College. That’s another event I need to publicize to the Cub Scouts.

I’m not sure about dark brown skin, especially since I already colored her makeup, but the gold highlights in the hair is a good idea. I’ve been looking at some of Anoreth’s pictures for ideas on shading, but she doesn’t do much with human subjects. There’s a tiny person in her “Beowulf and the Dragon” scene, but there’s not much detail since he’s only a thumb-joint high.

Umm...

I remember that! It was usually followed by a very long movie of a polar bear in a snow storm. That movie ended sometime around 6am with the playing of the National Anthem (AND a morning prayer, so you know how long it's been since they replayed that movie...)

REALLY!!!

YES! It would be my absolute pleasure to introduce you to Busdaddy and his racecar and Harley, and ask you to be part of the Pit Crew with me! I would be so tickled! And I’m sure he will be, too, when I tell him!

*happy dance*

http://www.lvms.com/dragstrip/tickets_schedule/

Except for the Jr. Dragster races, Busdaddy is pretty busy during the season. If you can arrange it for a race weekend, we will give you the “VIP Treatment!” LOL!

I’m sure he will be happy to have you help him with the mechanical things, if you are willing. There is always something to be fiddled with.

If it is an off-weekend, The Speedway will still be open and we can take the grand tour...there is even a Shelby Museum there.

We’d like to have a keyboard player, too! We used to have a Chinese high-school student who played piano and backup percussion, but first he went to a science-magnet state boarding school in Durham, and then to college.

“El nino Chino no es hijo nuestro!” I would tell the congregation, when they looked confused.

The Drag races close in November and open again in March. Here, they close in July because of the heat on the track. But whenever you are here, we can make it a good visit.

To paraphrase: I love the smell of High Octane in the morning!

Oh. Wait. I know. I got angry with a relative and decided to take a walk. On my way off the property, I met a little old lady with diabetes, emphysema/COPD, hearing loss and arthritis, and she asked if I would be so kind as to walk her to the cigarette store.

Sure. Then she wanted to go to the casino and get a cheeseburger. The casino was another two blocks farther away. But I said, “Sure.”

Ungh.

Three hours later...we are hobbling our way up the hill, (She with her cane and me with her arm to steady she and her cane) and the sun is sinking slowly into to West. It must be DST...

I’m sorry, folks, but I left her at a gazebo 100 yards from her apartment. She had just spent $140 on cigarettes, and couldn’t spring for a taxi. Go figger. And I was too tired to listen to her any more. I know I will burn in Hell for that... :o|

Can you not just get a measuring tape? You may know it as seamstress or tailor’s tape. It’s flexible, permanent, and in the USA, it has inches on one side and cm/mm on the other.

Hi TOL,
Can you not just get a measuring tape?
Of course, however this is for sticking to things for permanent measuring purposes or measuring the inside of irregular shaped small objects.
Being only paper thin they slide into 'all sorts' of things for depth measuring.etc.
There are both metric and imperial on the site.
Just thought others may have a use for it ,as i have.
It is that object at the back of the drawer that you can never find a use for ,then out of the 'Blue' ,it saves the day!
