“Boy, do I get hate mail,” Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman told "Off The Cuff." “There’s a lot of people who really, really hate what I say. I get a lot of stuff calling me a communist, a liar,and actually, various misspellings.”
And that’s just the family-friendly version.
Krugman is a professor ofEconomicsand International Affairs at Princeton University. He’s the author or co-author of seven books, but it’s his work as an op-ed columnist for the New York Times that draws the ire of his correspondents. He’s been criticized Left, and Right. To some, he’s a liberal polemicist and East Coast elitist; to others, he's a doomsayer who’s been overly critical of the Obama administration.
“It's shocking when you first encounter it. It’s ‘Oh my God, they hate me,’” he said. "I think that most people doing journalistic commentary stuff, they encounter that first wave of hate and they back down. I've been through that to the other side, where I actually almost enjoy it.”

I love it when Clint delivers lines like that all of a sudden. They have more impact when they don’t seem scripted.

Paul Krugman is really smart. He won a third grade perfect attendance medal or something.
It was one of the Dirty Harry series as the scene took place in an elevator in the San Fransicko courthouse.
Paul “Look at Me!” Krugman’s parents must have paid very little attention to him as a child. Most well-adjusted individuals outgrow such annoying behavior at age 4.
Who is Paul Krugman? I am widely read and knowledgeable but I don’t know who he is. He must not be all that important.

This was inserted in a desperate effort to make it sound as though Krugman isn't a run-of-the-mill bootlicker for any left-wing Democrat, specifically Obama. I would guess that the criticism Krugman gets is roughly 99.9% conservative.
And accurate. He cherry-picks the numbers that support his left-wing thesis and then he massages the numbers.
Oh, by the way: Krugman has on occasion criticized Obama, but it’s criticism that claims Obama isn’t being sufficiently left-wing. For example, he claims that Obama’s “stimulus package” wasn’t big enough.
