Twister is one of my favorites.

Especially on a summer night when bad thunderstorms are rolling in.

Thank you for saying Citizen Kane. My wife and I rented it years ago after hearing all of the hype and thinking that we were missing out on something. And the end we were left scratching our heads.

Someone awhile ago on FR said something about how Citizen Kane was ground breaking with the use of lighting or something. Whatever.

I did the same with Lord of the Rings (wife was gone). Cranked up the speakers, moved the easy chair right in front of the screen with a soda and popcorn and got ready for an Epic Adventure in Film!! Fell asleep about half-way through.

Fargo, was the first coen brothers film.

Not even close.

Fargo was made twelve years after they made their first movie, Blood Simple. They made four other movies beside that during that period, including two of their best: Miller's Crossing and Raising Arizona.

Yep, a disillusioned war vet, an evil corporation, and silly environmentalism, the trifecta of smarmy, elitist, movies. I never even finished It.
Avatar really sucked..

It was excellent.
It hit on things our supreme court can not get straight today.

The one reason I haven’t gone (not in about 8 years, the last Star Wars film) is because the theaters are too damn loud, and I have both tinnitus and labyrinthitis, so it is hell on my head.

Speaking of “Niles”, Hyde-Pierce’s performance in “The Perfect Host” is absolutely freaky.

Great sleeper flick.

First of all, what you have to know about Citizen Kane is this: it was a snarky little liberal putdown of a supposedly conservative American icon [although, since it predates Robert Taft and most of what movement conservatives regard as the birth of conservatism, it's hard to see how William Randolph Hearst would qualify; he was a big business mogul, and he wasn't a liberal, so... close enough for Hollywood.]

Second thing you have to know is that it ends with one of the foulest inside jokes in the history of cinema. The "Rosebud" thing really didn't refer to a sled, at all. Somehow Orson Welles got the information that William Randolph Hearst's pet name for his wife's clitoris was "rosebud." He decided he would slip it into the film in a different guise and then spread the inside gossip all over town. Naturally, the Hollywood insiders were laughing uproariously up their sleeves over the conclusion of the film. That level of nastiness tells you all you need to know about the "genius" Orson Welles.

I defy anyone to sit through any of his films. They're awful. Touch of Evil is actually worse than Plan 9 From Outer Space.

My brother told me morons with cell phones are a problem also. Enter a theater? Turn off your cell phone. Apparently that's too difficult for some to understand.

See Blood Diamond if you haven’t. While you can hate Di Caprio, he’s had a string of good movies. I’d say 5 are worth watching - Titanic, Inception, Aviator, Catch me if you can and Blood Diamond.

That’s actually not bad for most A-List actors...

I was out in Iowa one time, visiting a buddy.

He lived way out in the country. There were some storms rolling in from way off in the distance at night. We went down the road to a little rise and watched the storms roll in, with a lightning show across the entire horizon. VERY COOL.

When the storms arrived, the wind whipped up and the rain just came down in torrents.

Went back to his house and he told me to pick a movie. With the storm outside, I saw he had Twister and thought that would be good.

Storms are so much more wicked out in the country.

Worst experience I had in a theater was in a DC-area screening of “Gettysburg” back in 1993. I had a professor sitting behind me who insisted on giving a blow-by-blow of the action the moment before it happened. I wanted to bend over the seat and reenact the Battle of the Little Round Top on his forehead.
