Lesbarus are good cars. The one I had (1977 DL coupe) ended up, after factoring all gas purchased and all maintenance, insurance, etc. cost me $.06 per mile to drive. I had to triple check my numbers it was so cheap.

I wish that Subaru still made the “Brat” or the “Baja”, I always thought that they were kinda neat.

“Absolutely the best small pickup we have ever owned. No problems in the two years we have owned and it rides and drives like a car.”

If we took a long trip in my OJ Simpson Bronco, the truck before the Ridgeline. My wife needed sedation afterwards for her back.

She loves the Ridgeline and says it rides about as good as her Lexus.

It’s OK, it’s OK! You don’t have to prove to me that you’ll never own a Jaguar, for whatever reasons. And yep! They CAN cost a bomb to fix. (Mine haven’t.) But really, comparing Jags to Toyotas is kind of like... Oh well. Never mind. Go for a Camry or a Corolla or whatever. Cars are all the same.

Yep! People are terrified of ‘em. Probably the highest off-the-lot depreciation of all cars except maybe Range Rovers.

Yeah. I think what happens with that kind of stuff is that if they charge as much for it as they need to, not enough people will buy them to justify production.

...another aspect of the JD Power survey that never changes: Land Rover’s position. You see, for the umpteenth year running, Land Rover displayed its unending commitment to quality by finishing dead last. And since we’re doing our part to tell the truth about cars, I felt it was my duty to cover this automotive milestone...

...For 2011, the survey ranked the Land Rover brand last with an overall RI of 219 and a failure rate of 55%. The average repair cost was shown as $653.00. Land Rover has ranked last for 10 consecutive years...

My sister’s neighbor’s 7 serious BMW was sitting in her driveway for a few months. It was a pretty late model (less than 8 years old) and I asked her what was going on with it and did he want to sell it. She said I could have it, but the engine was blown and it would cost more to fix than it was worth.

IIRC, it was around $25k to fix. Yeah, that sounds absurd, but it IS a BMW.

The dealers out here are arrogant and unreliable.

I had some minor paint damage when the Ridgeline was new. I got stood up twice at the dealership by a no show painter and once in my driveway by their unreliable painter.

Then, our local Honda dealer would try to make an oil change into a huge deal and screwed up re parts for two minor recalls. I was getting hassled by the service manager on the second recall, and I told him cancel the apt for a service, the next week. We have been going to Big O and no problems.

We started getting bs from my wife’s Lexus dealer re converting a simple couple of hours job into, “you have to leave her car here for the night and use one of our rentals”. The next time that happened, I cancelled the apt and came back to Big O. They are getting killed in the Yelp reviews.

Our local Ford dealer was worthless, and my son takes my now his OJ Simpson Bronco to a small local dealer up valley and gets great service. He had used Big O before he moved.

Yep. I know a woman whose BMW 7- would leave her completed stranded in odd locations. The car never functioned properly, but, oh, was it nice to sit in or see on the back of the tow truck!

Likewise with a Mercedes S- 12 cylinder owned by a newly rich guy I know. Dealer nicked him for a thousand or two every month or two. He now drives, no kidding, a Toyota Sequoia!

My 2010 has the traction control, steering control, and skid control. It’s great on winter roads. I’m amazed really. When I go into a turn and the inertia might want it to go straight, the car takes over and keep me in my curve. I’m just amazed at how good it is.

Sorry, I am well aware that Land Rovers (Range Rovers in particular) are wickedly unreliable. I do not drive them. I was referring to Jaguars. Funny though - I once read a thread about Range Rovers and some guy said “they’re terribly unreliable, yes, but I just love them” and everybody sort of sheepishly agreed that they were willing to put up with all the (insane) headaches for the pleasure. Not my bag but there it is.

Beats driving a Civic (unless it’s one of the awesome Civics from the late 80s. Vroom! Love the visibility) My sister’s 99 is so boring it makes me want to commit suicide just looking at it.

2008 Accord EXL and 2012 Civic EX, both great cars!
Accord on trips 34/35 MPG, Civic on trips 43+/- MPG in ECON mode.

I’d wait for the Turbo, but it will be expensive.

200 HP is gutless in a car that handles that well - IMHO.
